several things struck me about this story....all about the mom...this baby was 3 days old and the mamma had DRIVEN him to the Dr...(that's a feat in itself) then after having been shot several times was still fighting for her baby until she was hit by the car!!!!
{I really hope that baby boy is told that story often as he grows up}

I read that the shooter is from Oakland, California. While I didn't live in Oakland, I did live in Northern California for several years courtesy of Uncle Sam. That town is despicable and this woman is a poster child for that town. I'm not saying EVERYONE from there is like that, but that town is simply FULL of criminals and thugs and lowlifes...also, I don't believe in torture of any sort...but I do believe in the death penalty when it is warranted, and this disgusting incident most surely warrants it. I can't wait to see what sort of stunts the defense team pulls to get this woman off the charges.

She appears to be a wacko from all accounts BUT I do not believe in leniency or excuses for wackos. An immediate and public hanging is called for in this case! Get a rope!

I have never believed in the insanity defense. It seems to me a person who would take anothers life for profit or sport is the very example of crazy!

A question for the ladies. Had this been you, would your carry weapon have been accessible fast enough for you to do anything about being victimized? How do you ladies carry? I ask because I would love to give advice to my daughter. She carries in her purse but if she were walking out with a baby in her hands, how would she get to her weapon fast enough?
I reposted this in case it got lost. I really would like to read what some of the ladies on the forum would do in this situation and how they carry that might have saved them.
Hmmm, well four months ago I was taking our newest daughter to the doctor. Unfortunately right after giving birth a woman's body is rather sensitive and I could not in any fashion carry. However I did bring with me a husband and he was carrying. As I remember he carried our youngest out to the car sooo that woman would have had a nightmare of a time getting our baby away from him and would have ended up with a hole in her too.
You can't always be safe always. It is terrible, but one of the most vulnerable times for a woman is in the weeks after she gives birth it is also one of the most difficult times to carry. Three days after giving birth your body is bruised, battered, bleeding, and in sleep deprivation--that is if you are lucky! IF you are unlucky like I have been twice you can barely stand up. Within 6 weeks I was able to carry again, but for about 3 months there I was down to a pocket knife and pepper spray.
So sorry for this mom and her family.

I wholeheartly agree with you on this stupid law (or whatever it is) on insanity----don't care if you are insane, if you do something you need to pay.

Hear, hear, the defense attorney is out of his mind:
"It is our position that she is entitled to a reasonable bond. She does not have a great deal of assets. If the state wants to hold our client on a no-bond, they have a great burden that they will have to satisfy for the court on Monday," Bond said. "It’s our hope on Monday that a bond is set reasonably, so Miss McClain will be allowed to return home and tend to her children."
Attending to her children???

, a cold-blood killer, an abductor and, as said attorney claims she is very upset and on suicide watch. Give her a rope and let's forget about her.

Enough is enough! I want a public hanging and everyone bring your kids. Actions have consequences. Let the kids see a a consequence for a bad action up close and personal rather than in meaningless words.

Though Bond said he believes the case meets the requirements for a capital murder charge, he does not believe it will be appropriate for the death penalty, because it will be difficult to prove that his client would be a future danger to society
Yeh Sure !

He said WHAT???

Oh, she's suppose to go home and "tend her children" meanwhile 4? other children will never, ever have their mother "tend" them!!!! Ooooo

I know, I know....he's just doing his job, but he could have pick just about any other words...it's a good thing I wasn't the judge on the bench, I probably would have tripled the bail just on principle.
I often say that when I "grow up I want to be a judge" but then????
