Maybe, hopefully, he might be able to point out how ridiculous NY's gun laws are and get them deemed unconstitutional. Wishful thinking I know, but one can hope.

The article linked at the beginning of the thread doesn't mention it, but I thought I read somwhere that this occurred on the return trip. So IIRC, technically, he did know the laws at his destination.

I wonder how this university president would feel about a student suing the university if a university employee called the cops for the student having a gun on campus without a valid license?

If it were here in Texas, I would be more than just a little perturbed since there is no law against having a gun on a campus. I don't know what the laws are where this University President comes from. However, I get your point and I think he would be quite upset at the thought thinking that they were just reporting the crime like any other crime. And upon further reflection, the likelihood of your scenario happening is much more remote since he was required by law to declare his firearm to the airline and I am unaware of anyone being required to inform anyone at a university that they possess a firearm. Nitpicking, for sure, but I still get your point. He wouldn't like it.
