As of Tonight they still heve the 51% signs up, they are improper, Terre Albert is at fault for this. He is the Manager for TRF, he came to us from SHRP( where its illegal to have firearm anyway). As Far as complaints being registered the people there wouldn't know what signage and TABC won't advise them of the 30:06. but so far no one has done a thing the signs are still there

I guess the TABC inspector hasn't made it out there yet or TRF is ignoring them. Should I forward the email that I received from TABC to the Ren Fest management?

NO. You should drop this immediately and keep your lip zipped. Go back to Page 3, read the post by Keith B.
Why would you want to inform TRF they are posting a sign that means nothing to you ? The sign is incorrectly
posted. Shhhhhhhhhhh.............. make it your own little secret.

:iagree: you've let the appropriate people know. at this point quiet is the best approach. you know you can carry, just keep it concealed.

I thought so, but figured I'd put it out there for the consensus.

Attended Texas Ren Fest today Saturday 11-17. There are 2 or 3 51% signs right in the road way... you drive past them as you are parking. There is another 51% sign as you enter the main gate.

So if TABC says that the signs are improperly posted & the Ren-fest management ignores them, is there still a penalty for carrying there?

Technically, the sign is irrelevant to us except if it is missing. The law makes it illegal to carry where TABC determines it to be a 51% location. This is with or without the sign. There is then a defense provided (a recent change IIRC) if a sign is not posted.

So, there is no penalty for ignoring a posted sign which is not in a location determined by TABC. There is a defense if the sign is not present (and it might be able to be stretched to improperly posted when present).

But the violations on posting improperly or incorrect signs are all on the store owner. TABC can even revoke their license, though that would be rare and extreme and very doubtful for this violation.

I've heard that TexRen has been told to remove the signs (which they're not going to do). The pubs inside the grounds are supposedly individually posted.

TexRen has said they will post 30.06 signs next season.
