The man's an idiot who's never had an analytical thought in his life.
But that's just it, he's well respected as a "thinking man's" sportscaster - he waxes poetically and pontificated often about the grandeur of sport ... frankly, years ago when I actually paid attention to pro sports, I actually enjoyed his baseball commentary
It's almost like in the last 15 years since I really paid attention to him, he lost his marbles

The guy that wrote the article said, when interviewed about it, that the NRA is the new KKK. I would imagine that would get a response from the NRA.

Levin played a clip from the quoted writer today. He said the NRA is the modern KKK because they fill black neighborhoods with guns and drugs so they will kill each other off. (Paraphrased). I wonder if Costas actually knew anything about this person before citing his work as wisdom.

Who is Bob Costas and why do I care what he says or thinks?

I never have liked Bob Costos. I never could put my finger on why until last night. Just like any other left wing-nut he didn't let a tragedy go to waste.
That poor little girl will grow up without her parents and someday will learn the truth. Her Daddy needed help and didn't get it. I don't think he did this because of any gansta mentallity. He was sick and didn't know it and didn't know how to ask for the help he needed. I'm very sad for the families.

While I enjoy my second amendment rights, Costas also has his right of free speech even if he is an idiot. Along with that right comes the consequences. While I am not surprised by his commentary, what I am mortified by is the reaction of the media in general. Victim mentality run rampant. So many people in the media are making excuses for this killer. I am done with "media" at this point.
I pray for the child that is left with the aftermath of all of this.

If you haven't seen it, here is a nicely written rebuttal to Mr. Whitlock's rant by Jen Floyd Engel:
Gun not at fault for Belcher's acts

A good article. But she is wrong on one point: the Founding Fathers did not "g
ve us" our rights. They are inalienable birthrights bestowed upon us by God and can only be taken away by our own personal misdeeds.

Much like WildBill, I too wonder - Bob who...?
But, now that I've learned a bit about him, I'm not going to wring my hands over some dopey sports guys ill informed opinion.
Lucky me.

Had we met at a bar and he espoused his ill informed opinion, I would not care one whit about his opinion. Unfortunately, he used a nationally televised sporting event watched by millions of everyday people to espouse his opinion which may influence some of those sitting on the fence. He knows he has next to no chance to convert a single member of “Texas CHL Forum”, that is why he isn’t posting here. He does believe he could influence thousands, if not tens or hundreds of thousands, of everyday Americans if he could only get his (someone else’s) viewpoint heard on national television.
He may have succeeded, he may not have, I would guess someone, somewhere, said to themselves, “I always liked that Bob Costas so I think he is right, we should ban guns.”

Yeah, it was the gun's fault. It appears there was a pattern of relationship troubles.

Belcher spent night with a gal pal before killing

KANSAS CITY, Mo — He was playing the field before he shot the mother of his daughter.
Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher had a boozy dinner with another woman and spent the night at her apartment before he went home, fought with and killed his girlfriend, and then ended his own life in a practice-facility parking lot, sources said yesterday.
After dinner and drinks Friday night at a local tavern, the former Long Island high-school star took the woman, Brittni Glass, to her home, but spent the next several hours asleep in his Bentley outside her building, neighbors said.
After cops roused him from his drunken slumber at about 2:30 a.m., Belcher went inside Glass’ building and re-emerged about four hours later.
“I was with him that night, that’s it,” a reluctant Glass told The Post yesterday.

Jaguar,
I agree with your perspective - some folks will be influenced by Bob C's intemperate diatribe.
What do you recommend?

I voiced my opinion in email to NBC and to the local DFW NBC affiliate, Channel 5, as well as here. If enough people speak up, maybe they will make an example out of the Constitution hating moron. That may make folks rethink what and where they pontificate. It isn’t that I don’t believe in free speech, but using a national broadcast to insult millions of gun owning Americans “should be” a bad idea.
