I ran the numbers at 50K shooters...Anythig less than that and we start to see more of a problem...

But here is the real kicker...

We all see the discussion focusing on the need of the government to be able to control "civil unrest", but with these aquisitions, it appears to me that it hasa nothing to do with civil unrest, it makes more sense to control the "civil resistance" which is probably aimed at folks like us...

What is encouraging is that finally elected officials are asking questions...Albiet 2-3 weeks behind the rest of us...

Really? If what I read is correct, they bought nearly a century's worth of ammo. How is that sensible? I mean, how would they know what calibers they need that far ahead? What if .40S&W and 5.56mm become obsolete next year?

If saving money was the objective, we'll need an explanation of why the purchase was for hollow point rounds, which are much more expensive than the FMJ's normally used for training.

Nope. I think I read it here or on sigforum, but that's all I've got.

So does ANYONE actually have a link to or copy of the ACTUAL purchase document? I for one would really like to read it for myself.

Hard to believe it is not out there someplace on the internet by now.

still doesnt answer why DHS has purchased 1k armored pers carrier vehicles

if the gov agencies tried to quell the population....what becomes of ALL of these agents families? where would they go to be safe from the non agents
thats a whole bunch of people to protect from certain retaliation or harm.

we would certainly notice if thousands of families suddenly "vanished"

I know of several in our neck of the woods....if they were missing from being put in protection, i would notice

or will the agents be so brainwashed that they leave their families to round up the non kool aid drinkers?
hopefully fox, ted and hensarling can keep the pressure on

I understand government buying in bulk. I understand government agencies allocating money to keep their budget high (spend it or lose it). What I don't like is Janet Napolitano refusing to answer Congressional questions on the subject. If its an innocent purchase then she should be able to articulate that to Congress.

Like the discussion above on 1.6 billion bullets. I see a lot of talk, and no documents. So it makes my wounder if i'f it's all he said she said, taken out of context to feed the sheeple drama drummed up by Alex Jones types.

And out of curiosity.. with the thousands of MRAPS returning to the US from Iraq and Afghanistan, bought and paid for with funds long spent.. Being offered to US State, and Federal agencies who should get them? (by the way local LEO's, if your department is offered one or to purchase one RUN AWAY, they are a maintenance nightmare, your budget will go RED just keeping the things running... more so if you hit an occasional IED... )

Another instance of government waste.

While qualifications must be done with carry rounds and some exercises are best done with that ammo, there's no need to use the expensive stuff for everything when a fairly close equivalent (in terms of recoil and point of impact in relation to point of aim) FMJ round is available.
