Is this so much of a concern when carrying with the manual safety engaged?

I would think that a manual safety would definely minimize the chance of a shirt causing the boom.
I can honestly say that I have never carried any gun concelaed that has a manual safety

It slows me down. I know that it not a problem for some.

My safety is off as soon as the weapon is 100% out of the holster and coming up. By this time, I have confirmed by touch and sight that my finver is along the slide...

A better analogy is that would you be willing to buy a new car when the engine may choke a few times because the fuel wouldn't feed while you driving during the break-in period.
I would be willing to accept that the accuracy is not so great during the break-in, but NOT the gun wouldn't fire due to jamming.

While I understand folks' comments about the break-in period, keep in mind that guns are no different from other machinery. As an example, every time you buy a new car or light truck, there is a break in period. Should the manufacturers drive the car for 1500 miles to seat and condition all the bearings and seals before shipping it to the dealer? How many of us would buy a car as "new" with 1500 miles on it? Guns are no different and a break-in period is normal.

The CCI Blazer ammo is *not allowed* in my rangebag in .45 caliber.
Everytime I have had issues shooting my 2 Kimbers, it has been the CCI ammo. Even the Dallas Reloads .45 ammo worked flawless.
FWIW, most people agree that A) Kimber factory mags are not that great, and B) Problems are nearly eliminated with Wilson Combat 47(d) mags.
I do not have the Wilsons, I am shooting Chip McCormick, which I have shot 1000's of rounds with no issues. The Wilsons are better, though, for the follower as it does not scratch the frame, and does not move foward/backward in the mag like the steel feedlip type!
I plan to get some to replace the CM mags as my next purchase.
My recommendation:
Get better ammo. WWB is fine
Clean & Lube your pistol before hitting the range
Get better magazines; Wilsons are worth every penny
Use ball round ammo to *break in* the Kimber. They always shoot better after a little wear...

What exactly are Winchecter White box's I keep hearing everyone make mention to?

Actually, I've had better luck with the Blazer Brass than the Winchester White Box and it has worked as well as UMC and American Eagle.
When I was breaking in my P45 Kahr, I had many times more malfunctions with White Box than I did American Eagle.
So far my experience has been with .45 acp, but I have about 20 boxes each of 9mm and .40S&W to try as soon as I can.

Winchester USA, an ecomony?? line sold in white boxes of 50 and bulk packs of 100. Before the price jumps, Walmart WAS selling 100pks of 9mm for @$10, .40S&W for @$15, and .45acp for @$20.
So it was one of the cheapest sources for practice ammo.
