Now let's finish this off. Committee in the house on sb 11 and 17 and hopefully a floor vote. Those two hurdles... 308 needs a floor vote in the house and the senate to take it up. Come on... :txflag:

Argghhhh I hope not. We want 910 in the Senate, not 17 in the House. 910 has the additional amendments.

Maybe they can get the same amendments onto 17, and hammer it out in conference. If I understand the process corrcectly, which correct me if I'm wrong, right now 17 is further along than 910, but not by much.

Correct, by 1 step. Unless, if the final version is going to look like 910 regardless, then 910 is further along because 17, if amended, will have to do a back and forth.

I am hoping this is the beginning of the activity "on the horizon" that Charles mentioned a few days ago.

It's not HB910 with those really good amendments, but it's something!
Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly does this mean in the process of getting SB17 to Abbott's desk to be signed into law? What exactly would be the next step after this?

It has to be voted favorably out of committee, then go to the House floor and be passed there. If it is not amended, then it goes to the governor. If it is amended on the House floor, then it is sent back to the Senate to vote on whether they concur. If they do not concur, then there is a conference committee held (if the House grants it), in which they come to a finalized version, which then must be approved by each chamber. See below:

It appears the SB17 has gone to committee in the House.

Thanks very much, excellent reply. Hopefully it makes it through!

Looks like HB910 has gone to committee on the Senate side. It's nice to finally see movement on these bills!

This was the same senate committee that passed SB 11 & 17 on to the full senate so lets hope that they can act quickly to pass these along as well

State Affairs committee is meeting tomorrow but HB910 is not on the list of bills to be considered. So it probably won't be considered until next week's meeting.

Where are you digging into on the Legislature's site to get to the committee's published calendars? This is my first session really paying attention to the process and it's truly dizzying. :oops:

The Texas House web site has a lot of information if you know where to look:
http://www.house.state.tx.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

House Committees Schedules:
http://www.house.state.tx.us/schedules/ ... schedules/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

House Floor Schedule:
http://www.house.state.tx.us/schedules/house-calendars/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you want information on specific bills including the bill text as Introduced, Referred out of Committee, Voted Upon, Engrossed etc. this is the best place I've found:
http://www.legis.state.tx.us/search/billsearch.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It is truly an interesting process and I must say I've learned a lot this session as well.

Next week's State Affairs committee meeting has been scheduled and HB910 is not on the list.
