That will work until you're in a situation where you have to use your firearm, then, be aware, if the sign is close it might be used against you. It may not make a difference with criminal charges, but may very well have bearing in a civil case.
True, when it comes down to it anyone can be arrested for anything... and anyone maybe sued civily for anything. If I am pulling my pistol, it is because the alternative would have been the long sleep for me, my wife or friends. The old adage of "I'd rather be judged by nine, than carried by six" comes to mind.
And of course, a small possibility of an AD.

Yes. There ARE accidental discharges. Not every unintended discharge is a result of negligence. They're not common, but they happen. Open bolt guns with worn sears... Hammer dropping after charging slide... Not ALWAYS preventable... :???:

I cannot honestly say that I take micrometers to each part in my firearms when I clean and maintain them. With the tolerances we are often dealing with, I am not sure how else I could fit your criteria. I hope that it is never an issue for me.

And the alternative is that you see a non-compliant sign, you make a guess that the intent of the property owner is to preclude guns on the property (i.e. the property owner is ignorant), and you enter the store unarmed. You are killed instead of having the ability to defend yourself, and you don't have to worry about being falsely arrested.

I'll just obey the law as written and take my chances if I am falsely arrested for something that is not illegal.
