In the original post he said "the dogs were out front, she stopped and brought them home" - does 'brought them home' mean that they were off of your property?

Leash Law
The City of Carrollton Code of Ordinance, Chapter 91, requires all cats and dogs to be restrained by a leash, chain, or in a fenced area. This includes any area, whether public or private property, including an owner's front yard.

That was awesome! I'm a rule follower for the most part but when someone comes onto my property and tells me how to run my home I take issue with that.

You can see it on Judge Judy every day. I just saw a case where a family had to pay $5000 for vet bills because their dog left the front yard through the gate to attack another dog.

I lived in Frisco years ago when I first moved to TX. I'm so glad we live on a farm in Granbury area now, and don't have to deal with NE and West Coast libs who have invaded that whole area with their lib mentality.

If your answer is NO, the dogs remained completely, at all times, on your property.

Then she was gravely mistaken.

If the dogs were at times on your property, but kinda, sorta, maybe wandered a little off of it, then she did the right thing.

Which is it?

The dogs NEVER left your property or they did and she picked them up off your property?

If so, the animal control officer was legitimately controlling the animal which was not "in control" according to the ordinance.
Can't blame them for doing what the city told them to do.

Tis but one reason I do not live in a city, or HOA. My 12 acres, my front yard, my fence with closed gate.. Please keep hands and feet away from my fenced property and out of my dogs mouths.

I have a special interest in free ranging dogs especially when out cycling.

Many cities consider an unrestrained dog to be "at large," which basically means free, loose, or unrestrained.

I know that Harris, Galveston and Ft. Bend counties have leash laws, your dog isn't inside, in a fence it had better be on a leash. you can receive a citation for not having these conditions met

Most cities are like this. You cannot write exceptions into an ordinance that treats extremely well trained dogs, like Richards, differently than poorly trained or not trained dogs.

In the other thread discussing shooting an attacking coyote/dog, its discussed a dog that charges up to the property line and stops. That could be an extremely well trained dog that it knows where the line is and knows to stop. It sees its behavior as protecting what is his. The person being charged doesn't know all this.

Sorry you don't like the rules, but, as usual, they are written for the lowest (or most dangerous) common denominator.

My wife asked me if we could do that. I'm not sure if they would stay in their yard because they're trained to walk to the edge of our yard and sit so I can put the leash on him and once the leash is on they can leave the yard.
