The stock market is no longer about capitalism, it is about corporatism. Look up the difference. Hillary is about corporatism.

Major swing states still can't be called. None of them, even NC. This may be a very long night, and I may not be up to it.

Current electoral count: Trump 139; Clinton 104.

If I hear the term "Clinton surrogate" many more times I may lose it. I get images of that Bruce Willis movie where everyone moved their consciousnesses into robot surrogates, and the idea of scores and scores and HRC surrogates roaming around....

(With 46% counted Hillary was ahead in Texas.
Ah. So she's just trying to remain positive (from her point of view)

I am concerned that the voting is as close as it is. Few more years and it won't be a given.
Part of it is demographic change, and part of it--if we can judge by the 2012 election--is that Texas voters were/are more apathetic than other states. Here's how voter turnout in 2012 looked:

I can understand, to a degree, the "meh" attitude toward the presidential vote in the far western states. Gone are the days when our news came printed on pulp paper and dropped at bundles at newsstands. We sit here now seeing states' electoral votes called after only 10% of the results are tabulated; we (I) get antsy if I don't know the way the state went just minutes after its polls close. When I lived in Southern California, the president elect was typically named before our local polls closed. Can you imagine the folks in Hawaii? They're six hours behind Eastern time; it's lunchtime there when the Atlantic states' polls close.

Almost makes ya think we should sit on all election reporting until the day after. Not an excuse, though, for the turnout to have been so relatively low in 2012.

You make good points, but apathy delves much deeper than election results. Apathy reaches down to the core of what we do on a daily basis. Almost every move I make is affected by what I see and hear about what goes on in my state and country.

Apathy is deadly.
