For those in DFW. If you haven't checked out Scheels you should. Pretty cool place and they were loading ammo onto the shelves every truck according to the stocker. Saw them putting out a good number of cases worth of 9mm, 38 and 45 at normal prices. Also had some primers in stock too. They are limiting how much you can buy but still good to have another option. For reference 9mm was right at $0.24 per for range rounds.

Last time I was there, a giant hour plus line to get in was formed outside. Is that still the case?

I had no idea there was a Scheels in DFW! Another detour on the way to visit my folks!

Was not that busy at all really. My first time in during lunch time roughly. Had never heard of Scheels before driving past it a few months back. It's not right near me so took this long to make my way back there and check it out.

So far they have been lucky for me. Outside of the primers at the store I was able to grab up a Dillon press earlier this week just by watching the site online for a few days for inventory. Free shipping and should be here tomorrow. Much better than waiting who knows how long for one via an order.

Scheels for the win again today. 5k of primers (mix of SP, SR and LR) and some other random items. They have limits in store but you can buy double limits online and pickup. They did have some ammo they were stocking as I was heading out but I didn't grab anything else. Wish they were a little closer to the house... They do tend to stock throughout the day from talking to them.

Looks like that's the only Scheels in Texas. C'mon, Sheels! Texas is a B-I-G state.

Ammo buying days are pretty much up for me now. I'm working on my current inventory of reloading supplies. I just finished loading a decent supply of .50AE, and now I'm going to work on reloading 45 ACP and 308/7.62 next. Maybe I'll work on my 10mm as well. I'll be busy for a while.

Now that all the common calibers are hard to find, I've been shooting my guns chambered in less common calibers that I've been neglecting for far too long. It's actually kinda nice. I miss a lot of these ol' guys. If anything, these are better than all the standard 9mm and 5.56 guns.

In order not to side track this thread, I'm not buying and I've never sold any.

Was at League City Cabela’s and saw that there was a lot more rifle ammo on the shelves, and some handgun. There was no .223/5.56 at all, nor was there any 9mm, .380, .40 or .45.

Plenty of .25 ACP and .44 mag though.

I was going to use that DPMS AR-10 I got from TAM a few years back, but the last time I took it apart to clean it after a day at the range I noticed a little piece of whatever missing off the BCG. I haven't ordered a new one yet and everyone is sold out of the ones I like. So, ...

After talking with the guys that are gonna take me, they said each one they've taken the past few years has been under 100 yards. I figured I'd go old school with iron sights. I have three rifles I could go with.

1. Garand
2. Enfield
3. Swiss K31

I had forgotten about the K31 and figured I'd go with the Garand, but would take them both out to the range and see which one does better at 100 yards and if I would be good enough at 100 yards myself. Then I remembered the K31. Then I remembered I didn't have any ammo for it after I shot up the only two 20-round boxes I bought when I acquired it 5 years ago. Wow! I thought it was only 2-3 years ago, but just checked. Anyway, I've been looking for ammo for it for a couple months now and finally found some online at Target Sports last night and ordered 100 rounds.

I'd really like the Enfield to be the better rifle with iron sights at 100 yards. It was my Father in Laws and he never hunted with it. However, I'll be happy if I'm good enough with either of the three to be sure I'll do right for the deer if I get my shot.

If what I saw at the Cabela’s here in town is any indication, you shouldn’t have any problem getting 30.06, there was plenty on the shelf.

I've seen 450 BM at Academy and Cabelas in Allen had plenty of 50 BMG.

I haven't looked for Garand ammo in a while because I don't shoot it that much. I bought one of their 500 round can a few, maybe 5-6 years ago, (good grief time is flying by) and still have at least 200 of that. Another 500 would be nice, but there are so many other things with higher priority right now.
