Be glad you aren't one of those of us who waited for 60+ days! :eek6

With things popping as fast as they are now, you'll probably have some plastic in another week or two.

Thanks! I'm from San Antonio. I just updated my profile so it would be visible. It definitely feels good to finally have the plastic in my hand.

Well, after lurking here for quite some time, I figured it was time to actually post something. Since I am waiting for my plastic this topic seemed the logical place to begin.

Mailed Packet(s)* to DPS: 14 June
Received at DPS: 15 June
First Day Information Available on-line: 1 July (We have checked every day!)

*Sent separate packets for self and wife.

There is a 'note' on both of our web-status pages that the "Special Conditions Documentation" was unacceptable. I can only assume that the copies of our DD214s were not clearly legible. Have to wait until I get the notification in the mail.

Kindest Regards!

Tony

Did the app online and the fingerprints electronically. Dropped off the remaining items at the office on Guadalupe and verified that everything was correct/complete.

Did this yesterday.

Today I had a new license in the mail! :woohoo

:banghead:

it was the change of address driver's license I forgot I had done online a couple weeks ago...:

Well...they have some "fluff" time that goes along with that.

According to what I've read in the statute, the time standards are as follows...

1. 30 days to send a "complete" application off to the appropriate agent in order to begin mandatory background checks.
2. 60 days to complete said checks or notify the applicant.

So 90 days total if all is in order, upon the receipt of an application DPS considers "complete".

When you look at the statute, it says the time starts when DPS has a "complete" application, however, it doesn't specify how much time is required for DPS to confirm that an application is "complete" . So, imo, if it gets there on the first of the month, but it takes 3 weeks to process and be accepted as "complete", than the applicant eats those 3 weeks, and is subject to the further 90 days. Likewise, if it takes 3 weeks to process, and another 2 weeks before you get notified of any deficiencies, you eat that time as well.

My application sat in limbo for over a month before they posted "rejected prints" on their web site, and by the time I got an official letter, I had already sent in electronic prints.

Gotta love bureaucracy...
