FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Plastic in Hand! 10 days short of a 5 month wait. Ill tell ya, back in Feb when I took the course I NEVER thought it would be Aug before I got my license. All I can say is the system is broken. Got the run around, lied to, had to contact my congressman and still it was almost 5 months.

But, I made it and they didn't break me. Did my wally walk and even went out for dinner with the wife. Did have the feeling everyone was looking at me at first but soon got used to it. Been carrying at the house for several months so I am used to having it on. Good luck to all those still in line!

A hearty congratulations to you labelleb! Phew, what a wait! I'm glad you have it now.

thats funny , when you took your class it was probably freezing outside .
now you get your license in the dog days of summer .

wrote representative and he forwarded me this response from TX DPS:

"Currently your application is delayed due to the Harris County Investigation Report. As soon as it comes in I will issue the license."

anyone ever heard of this?? same thing as a background check?

I do believe that Galveston county is taking over as the slow pokes of Texas....no doubt still blaming Ike.

So part of the delay is due to the computers being down? Wonder when they will start blaming the long delays on swine flu?

Checked my status today and got a shock! It has said "processing application" for months now, but today it said "No application or license/certificate active". Whoa, what does that mean?

I thought mine said the same thing, but be sure you are not clicking the link for instructor certificates instead of regular CHL's. I believe I was mistaken in thinking that was a change in status to my app. In fact I was just following the wrong link off the DPS website. The pages for inputing SSN's and DL #'s look exactly the same for instructors and students.

FINALLY check status today: Application Completed - license issued or certificate active, out of all days its my birthday, best gift i could get now just waiting on plastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, you are right. I clicked on the wrong link. Checked the "right" link and it said "Processing Application". Whew! Nearly had heart failure.
