Ecclesiastes and a Rickenbacker 12 string, who would have thought that combination would produce one of the most enduring tunes of the 60's? It's a shame The Byrds couldn't have made more music together.

My wife has begun to watch a new television program "The Blacklist". I've been drawn to the last 5 minutes of the program when they add original music to a dialogue free montage. Here's a few of the tunes.

IMO, the Byrds had so many personnel changes that they lost their original musical vision, but nonetheless they did make some good music!

IMO the Byrds are Mcguinn, Clark, Clarke, Hillman, and Crosby with Gram Parsons as an associate member. After '68 it was just Mcguinn and a revolving cast of players.

Deth surf guitar, barking dogs, Chopin, contrapuntal percussion, clap line, polka, mariachi horns, diminuendo, dense "wall of sound" production, whistling, impenetrable lyrics. Classic!

I still say if it wasn't called rock and wasn't on the radio between the mid 60s and the mid 80s, it ain't music.
My poor kids think the music industry died 25 years ago because the XM radio stays on the oldies station.

"I'm not an actor! I'm a Movie Star!" Peter O'Toole "My Favorite Year".
He was both of course, as well as one of the last who could claim that. R.I.P.
