mailed 3/15 ... still in bg ... mailed wife's the same day and she had hers 2 weeks ago ...

I'm still hanging in there with a few of you still waiting. Mail on 3/26 and been in background for about 16 days.... What a great chance to practice patience, blaaa.

Overnighted documents to Austin on 3/28/2013. No movement on the application at all. Emailed an inquiry and pdf copies of my documents on 4/15/2013 and again on 5/15/2013 with the last response thanking me for submitting copies of my documents and stating that they would be forwarded to a manager for expedited processing.

As of today I have been waiting over 60 days with no acknowledgment online of DPS even receiving the documents. I am writing my representative to see if he can help.

Still waiting. This waiting for the mail part has to be worse than waiting for updates online. It's killing me.

March 8-9 - class
March 26 - Packet mailed
March 28 - Fingerprints
May 8 - Status changed online (showing fingerprints and background check under review and everything else received, valid, etc)
May 25 - Letter received saying app was going to Medical Advisory Board because of reported history. Good thing is that I included a letter from my doctor with my app so hopefully that will help the process some.

My CHL arrived today wifes did not. Hopefully tomorrow. 73 days dropbox to mailbox for me a bit pathetic actually but hey DPS is the government so should have never expected any sort of efficiency.

More good news this morning. My CHL status has moved to "mailed" and wife's has moved to "manufacturing pending". It won't be long now.

5/7/2013 – first update: background check started
5/29/2013 – second update: manufacturing pending
5/30/2013 – third update: mailed

Around 86 days total mailbox to mailbox. Overall I'm pretty happy with the time it took. Could have been a lot worse. No snags or anything. I learned a lot from this group. Thank you all in this forum. I'm really glad this is around.

24 days in background check but it's finally done. Status changed to manufacturing pending this morning. It's been 66 days so far since I dropped the forms in the mailbox.

5-7 Website status changed to Application: Received
5-31 Background check complete

Almost my last update, I hope. Had a good status change this morning.

Feb - Class, online application and fingerprints
March 26 - mailed in documents
May 14 - received & in background check
May 31 - manufacturing

I sent my stuff in Feb 25...it took about 7 weeks for the website to show they had received my application and documents. Things rolled fairly quickly after that. Got it sometime in early May. Hope that helps some of y'all feel less anxious about your stuff getting lost in the mail or at DPS!!
