I just read that Linda Ronstadt has Parkinson's and can't sing any more. Very sad.

Yes it is.
All my favorite female artists, Linda Ronstadt, Bev Bivens, Emmylou Harris, Judith Durham and Grace Slick are in their late sixties or early seventies. All are dealing with the with health related issues of some sort. Just a shame.
And yes, I know that they are all petite brunettes with dimples and big voices. My wife(who shares those attributes)pointed out my mania to me decades ago, lol.

Linda Ronstadt and Pat Benatar were two of my favs when I was a teen. Ashame we are all getting old. Walked into the bathroom yesterday and couldn't figure out how that old man staring me in the face got into my house.

Georgy Girl was also a very popular movie from 1966 and this is the title song which got tremendous air play.

The Seekers were the first group from Oz to chart #1 in the US, UK, and Oz. Their 1965 hit "I'll never find another you!" sold about 2 million copies worldwide. They were idolized down under and were named "Australians of the Year" in 1968, the only musical group so honored. Shortly afterward at the peak of their celebrity, Judith decided she no longer wanted to record and tour and announced she would leave the group to work with her accompanist/husband. The country went into mourning.
Their '68 Moomba Fest concert in Melbourne still holds the Guinness record for largest attendance in the Southern Hemisphere at 200,000. In July, the compilation album "The Seekers' Greatest Hits" was released and spent 17 weeks at No. 1 in Australia. It was released as "The Best of the Seekers" in the UK and US and spent 6 weeks at No. 1 in 1969, managing to knock the Beatles' (White Album) off the top of the charts and preventing the Rolling Stones' Beggars Banquet from reaching the top spot. The album spent 125 weeks in the charts in the UK.

I don't suppose that the fact that the Beatles were huge fans American musicians such as Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Roy Orbison would change your mind.
If fact, in the early days the Beatles hired Roy Orbison as their opening act.
