Confused...

DPS received my application on March 7th. Last week, I called them to check on the status since I had not yet received my PIN. When I called, the person told me that there was a problem with my fingerprint cards, and they were returning them to me. The following day, I received my PIN in the mail. My status online now shows "processing", but I have yet to receive anything back from them about the fingerprint cards in the mail. How long does it normally take from the time they decide to get you to re-do the fingerprint cards until you receive something in the mail about it? Thanks.

Hate to depress you 80+ day guys even more but my sad story was posted several (or more) pages ago here in the waiting room. For those of you who haven't read this entire subject matter posts, get this time line and see if you can understand.
My wife & I sent completed packet to DPS on Jan. 2nd, 2006. she received her CHL in just 54 days and mine came in 98 days. As I've stated before, I think, it's just the luck of the draw of which desk your application falls on. Seems to me they are processing faster now though.
While waiting you can practice skulking around the house in a concealed carry mode and read the posts in this forum for great advice and practical knowledge.
Good luck!! It will happen!!

For those of you who have been waiting a long time, I got off the phone with DPS half an hour ago. The staff member who was working on my application (now at 77 days waiting) QUIT their job. All the applications are going to be reassigned to other employees, and I was told to call back next week sometime mid-week for a better idea of how much longer its gonna take.

Did they mention her name? The nice lady who wrote me back on E-mail is Waldene Leach and she has not answered my last e-mail, I guessed she was too busy but maybe she is the one who left?

Hey Reysc....... Good to hear from you! Sounds like a good idea to get together for another shootoff. You gotta bring Leo and your wife's tuna sandwiches! You will love shooting Txbell's Desert Eagle and I would really like trying out your two new toys (a Sig & another Glock I think).
We are going to be gun poor if we keep this up.
And to you guys in waiting, don't worry, the path beaten down to your mail box will grow back in a month or so after your CHL arrives.

Hello everyone in the waiting room! Many of us were here longer than we wanted - don't be shy about calling to ask about your status - particularly if you are over 60 days.
If anyone is reading this that was born outside the US (military etc.) note that in applying for a CHL they will want additional documentation with your application.
Hey ReySC and Jbenat, I am chomping at the bits to shoot as soon as I figure out how to get down to 80 hour weeks. I am working on the backend for the website of one of my businesses and it is a long process in this case. If you ever get the chance post pictures of a shoot I bet everyone would like to see them. I hope to catch up with you at some point. Tuna, isn't that more fishing than hunting?

I sent my TR-100 back to the DPS on Thursday, April 27 (Ihad originally forgotten to sign the dang thing). Sent it Certified Mail with Return Receipt requested. The nice postal worker informed me that the letter should arrive in Austin on Saturday, April 29. I figure the DPS won't receive anything on Saturday, so it should get there on Monday.
I know it is only Tuesday, but USPS track and confirm shows nothing, other than the letter was accepted by the local Post Office last Thursday. It's frustrating when the application process is delayed by my own stupidity, but now it's being delayed by something completely out of my control. I don't like feeling helpless (which is one of the reasons I applied for my CHL to begin with), and I hate waiting.
Okay, thank you for letting me gripe. Back to whatever you were doing before...
I know I sounded impatient (I am), but I was leaving the next morning on business, and didn't know if I would be able to check the tracking information until today. As it turns out, the DPS signed for my returned TR-100 on Tuesday morning, but USPS didn't update their information until that evening. So that puts me at 56 days since DPS got my app packet originally, and 5 days since they got it back with the correction. The application tracking system on the DPS website still says "Application Incomplete..."
I hate waiting almost as much as I hate waiting longer because of my own stupidity!

It's been exactly one month since I took the class and no PIN yet. No biggie. I do check the mail, but I know it may be a bit longer before I see my PIN. I haven't gotten impatient yet. I did get my Fox OC spray and my ankle holster and should have a G27 soon.

One question...I was checking my credit and found that the Attorney Generals office has reported that I am $27,000 in arrears.
Now, to clarify, there was a lot of confusion thanks to an imcompetent AG office, but I have never been late on a child support payment in the five years I have been paying. The AG's office has already cleared up the mess, but if this is on my credit report, will this delay the chl process?

Just guessing here...but yes, I would think it definitely would slow up process.....I sure would attack this full-bore, b/c you don't want it on your Credit Report- if in fact, all taken care of!
I'd call the AG's office immediately and get a confirmation that they will contact Experien, Equifax, Trans Union immediately...get that from the AG's office in writing to you; signed and dated from them to you. I'd probably be pro-active with DPS on this as well once you have your letter from AG.....
Good luck on that one...but stay on it!!
