They did not mention a name. The person I talked to was Roger.

Day 62. Just called. DPS did confirm the correct date of receipt (3-7), but said they were running behind and give it another couple of weeks . PIN was issued 4-24 and received by mail on 5-2.

Hello everyone. Im new to this site but im already hooked.
my application was sent in on 12/15/05. after about 90 days
I called and they told me that my app had been sent to the wrong
dept. they had not done anything about it untill I called.
around the end of April I was notified that during the background
check,a short hospital stay I had showed up,so now I had to get some
paperwork that they sent me,filled out by my D.R.(phsyciatrist)
(I was diagnosed with depression two years ago).
My doc gave me the ok so I got everything mailed back to Austin.

To day I called and they told me that the medical board has my
app. but they only reveiw cases every other week.
and this aint the week, so it looks like it will be at least two more
weeks before I know anything. It lookes like it will be close to six
months before everythings wrapped up,its been a long wait :totap:

I guess we can finally join the waiting room too. Wife's packet was received in Austin on Mar 24th, we received PIN yesterday in a letter dated Apr 27th, but not mailed until May 4th.
I cannot decide if the slow response times we are seeing are caused by big piles of applications or lack of staff. In either case, the office seems to be having a real tough time making the 60 day goal.
I think I will go ahead and do my renewal early as I can to make sure there is plenty of time for processing.

Man, now I feel guilty about complaining about the few minor issues I've had. Welcome to the waiting room, Jgue. You've found a great group of friends.

Looks like I have to relinquish the title of longest wait... mine was "only" 120 days. I guess I only get to have the longest wait for someone who didn't get "additional information" requested. Too bad, I was hoping to keep that title - not because I wanted the title, but because I didn't want anyone else to "get" to beat my score.

Dubious honor!

Kalrog: 120 Days and you seem to be somewhat sane!

It only took me 98 days to get mine and I haven't been the same since. Inability to sleep, loud noises frighten me, constant impulse to check the mail box. My shrink says these problems should go away in a year or so if I carry 24/7! :o

My son (21 year old college student) just called me from Abilene and he received his CHL in the mail this morning.

He turned 21 Feb. 2nd.

He took the course Feb. 18th.

He sent his packet off Feb. 24th.

Received his PIN in mid-April.

Received license today, May 9th.

I suspect it may have been a little faster for him because he did not have that many addresses to be checked out because of his age, and that all the LEO's here know him well because of my being a former Police Chief here and his desire to become a DPS Trooper when he graduates from college.
