We had a major hassle getting the IRS to understand that they really couldn't tax us on an amount that we never received. They said we did; we said, "Show us the canceled check with our signatures, and we'll pay the taxes."
The "rebate" in question was an advance credit of what was to be a lowering of your federal tax for that year. It was not something that was itself to be taxed, whether you received it or not. I think there's some confusion here.
In fact, out of all the folks I talked with that year, I only knew one person who actually received anything.
Really? I don't know anyone who didn't receive it.
I ain't holding my breath on this one, either.
I got my $1,500 this past Monday. If we're lucky, It'll be going toward taxidermy and meat processing after the bear hunting trip my son and I are going on this month.

Now THAT'S a well spent "welfare" check! That should provide tons of great memories! I mean really, how many people can say, "Yeah, my dad took me bear hunting, and we got a great one! It's in the living room, wanna see it?" Those are some pics that I can't wait to see!

Now I just have to hope that I didn't jinx it by shooting my mouth off before the fact ;-) But if we're successful I'll definitely be posting a pic or two. Shoot...as beautiful at the Bitterroot range is I'll likely post some pics even if we come home empty-handed.
