right yea ask for the job
it just seems weird i guess
i asked if there were openings when i went there the first time
and he asked what my background was before he answered then after i told him
he replyed that there was a possibility due to the current work load
i found that odd as most places right now are not doing well because of the price of gas folks cant get their cars worked on

It does feel weird to "ask for the job", I know. I've done it many times in the past and it is un-natural and feels almost humiliating. However, I promise you that it works wonders. But if you really want the job, you have to ask for it. Take a deep breath, swallow hard, look him in the eye and say something like, "I'm really hoping that you will hire me for this job. Will you?" The result very well may surprise you.

You can also ask, near the end of the interview, what qualities the interviewer believes the successful candidate will have. You can then build off his answer to remind him how many of those qualities are exactly what you offer.
