I haven't even taken my CHL class yet(scheduled for the 27th) and I'm already getting discouraged. What a crock in Austin.

First off, I somewhat agree with you. There seems to be a disconnect somewhere. On the other hand, I would much rather they do a thorough check on each applicant. We don't want to ruin what we have going here by rubber stamping. You would think they knew there would be interest in this and would have staffed accordingly.

It will come, someday.

From my understanding there is a very atypical load on the system due to the current presidential candidates and fears that come November guns will be outlawed across the land.

Its going to take more than that, I think, to change gun laws. I think folks are just concerned about the "uncertainty" of our country at the moment.

It should change to Application Completed - license issued or certificate active.

I was discharged in Jan 94 and my DD214 has line 24, however, there are two versions. One has the lower 1/4 of it blocked out after line 22 with a hash mark type pattern, the other is the full form with all the data in the blacked out area exposed. I happen to have both copies of mine.

Huh....I guess there are different versions of your DD214, I retired in June, 1998....mine has Block 24 which state type of Discharge...

Only a couple of weeks left to receive the plastic - this popped up on the DPs Website today....Application Completed - license issued or certificate active!!!

Awesome and that give's me hope I wont have to wait 120+ day's for my license because they recieved my app only 5 day's after they recieved your's!!! Crap now I need to buy my 'heat'.

i think even if obama is elected
we have until about january (when he is actually in office)
to be worried bout the gun bans

LOL ohhh thats a huge relief....LOL

Either way, I personally dont believe in the hype and I really have no fear that my guns will be taken from me.... at least while I still have ammo and a pulse.

I'm about the same time line as you. What counties did you report residence/work on your app?

Way to go DPS! It looks like the State has found the solution to speeding up the application process!
