Sent redone prints, via UPS EXPRESS MAIL, TO Jan Coffey,DPS/CHL, 5806 Guadalupe st, Austin, texas.

The lady who signed for my package was named Margaret , location was the pharmacy. :confused5

Now I wonder where my prints are? I will call today or Tuesday to check on them.

Day 61 and holding.

Go here: http://maps.live.com/ And enter the address you sent the prints too and see where you sent them... the entire block is the DPS, gun range, impound, service areas, offices.

Once you see the address location pointer you may understand the signature and location better, anybody the UPS driver could find.....

I've seen their campus, but when you pay UPS to deliever to a specific building you expect your mail to go to that address.

For those who do not think DPS is trying their best to catchup, I just talked to Simone at 6:45am this morning. She started work at 5:00 am on a holiday weekend. She talked for 30 minutes catching me up on my application.

Dropped my renewal off in person at DPS HQ on July 25.

When DPS originally sent me a renewal notice, it already had a PIN, so I tried to use that to see where I stood in the system.

It worked.

Around August 25, my status went to "Processing Application." It's been holding there now for a couple of days.

Wonder if mine will go through as quick as jaf's . . .

So I am on day 48 and hadn't really paid much thought to the timing of the process until I saw a post that a July applicant had already received their plastic. So that made me think well I could at least check my status (not holding my breath here) so need a pin. So I send in the necessary email to get my pin and here is the response I got:

"Your application has not been entered into the system. It is likely going though the processes required before entry. When a completed application is entered you will be sent a confirmation letter with your PIN."

So what does that mean?? You would think that after 48 days they would at least have it in the system???? After all they are supposed to issue within 60days

Anyone know what 'processes' they do before entering it in the system?? Guess I will just sit and back and carry on waiting........

I mailed my application July 15, and DPS received it three days later. I wish I'd done this earlier in time to legally carry a hand gun during the October Archery Only hunting season, but I doubt it will arrive before November. So I'll have to defend myself from mountain lions and hogs with my bow.

Day 65 and a call to DPS revealed the fact that I wasted $28.00 on using UPS EXPRESS mail.
Prints arrived Thurs. morning ,8/28, and as of 5:00 PM 9/3; they still have not been mailed to the FBI.

Three full working days and nothing happening.. I was told Sat. 8/31, all background checks are complete
and they are just waiting on FBI approval of my redone prints. :totap: :mad5

You feel that? Thats the winds of progress my friend! Hopefully the new prints won't be rejected due to my pinky having poor ridges BUT some change is better than none! Status has gone back to processing application. Things are moving!

The 45th day has passed since DPS received the completed documents for my CHL renewal. Still "Processing application." DPS may be making a good-faith effort to reduce its backlog, but I have to say they set a poor example for obeying the law. Anyway, a little over a month from now my current license will expire. :totap:

DPS has had my renewal for 45 days - still "processing application."

If I don't pay my property taxes on time, as the law requires, :rules: there are consequences.

If I don't show up when summoned for jury duty on time, as the law requires, :rules: there are consequences.

If I don't file my Federal 1040 on time, as the law requires, :rules: there are consequences.

If a government agency fails to complete THEIR task on time, as the law requires, :rules: there are NO consequences.

A pet peeve of mine . . . :grumble
