Right now, we're actually getting a really good signal with our round attic antenna. We're going to see how it works during a storm to determine if we want to set the new one up or send it back.
It's really not a bad deal at all, but if the round one keeps working during storms, I can't see where we need it. We're actually getting more stations since the HD switch than we were getting before--I'm a bit surprised. Everyone kept acting like the sky was falling.

What happened to ABC 13 in Houston?

I had a good picture on 13.1 last week and earlier but it was blank last night. That's the first time I tried to watch ABC since the switch. I tried NBC (2.1) and FOX (26.1) and they were fine. I googled and the advice was to rescan after the transition, so I did that but no ABC 13. I turned off the box for five minutes, turned it back on and rescanned again. No ABC 13. I tried this morning before work and still no ABC 13. Did they forget to pay their power bill?

After the digital switch my UHF attic attenna is not obsolete: I am receiving clear reception of over 30 digital stations, including 13-1 KTRK and 13-2 LIVWELL. This is even after I deleted numerous channels that I would not watch (mostly Spanish and religious stations). I get the major networks ABC, NBC, CBS(HD) and FOX. I also get KUHT(HD), KTXH(HD), KIAH, KLXN, KTBU and ION. :thumbs2:

Update:
I ordered the digital antenna, but it didn't work for us. We actually got fewer stations than with our old attic disk from Radio Shak. We're keeping old faithful and sending the new one back, but I certainly do appreciate your advice, WildBill.

On a funnier note, Mars ran across a few rather interesting instructions while putting it together.
1. Do not install on roof while pregnant, intoxicated, or both.
2. Do not throw antenna at spouse.

I guess some people require very explicit installation instructions.

Venus - I am sorry that the antenna didn't work out for you, but I am still puzzled why it did not work. :headscratch
Did you install the balun? Did you point it at the correct compass setting for your zip code? What kind of cable did you use? Did Mars throw the antenna at you while you weren't looking. I guess if the old one is working that is fine, too.

I'm not really sure what Mars did. I'm seven months pregnant, so I'm not allowed near the attic. (I've discovered that you can have very little fun at seven months pregnant--no shooting, no reloading, no riding mechanical bulls, no tubing or kayaking down rivers, no up-hill water coasters at Schlitterbahn, but I digress.)
He did read this entire thread before he even ordered it, so I'm sure he followed all the advice. He did have me pull up the websites on here.
I think it simply didn't work for us. It could have been our location, or maybe even the angle of our house or attic. IDK.

We did enjoy reading the instructions/disclaimers, knowing that someone must have tried it in order for them to actually print something so ridiculous.

I think the attic antenna makes a big difference. I'm in an apartment and don't have an attic for an antenna.

I got 13.1 with an indoor antenna last week but now it's gone. My TV displays a "NO SIGNAL" icon on 13.1.

After rescanning and rererescanning I get 2.1, 26.1 and 39.1 plus a bunch of stations I won't watch including the religious ones on 14.1 through 14.666, muchos canales Espanoles, one Vietnamese, another Asian (maybe Chinese) and assorted other stuff. However, no matter how much I adjust the rabbit ears, I can't get CBS (11.1) or ABC (13.1) or their subchannels.
