I thought I would have my PIN by now ... but after checking other posts I guess my situation is pretty normal:
03/14/09 -- CHL Class Taken
03/16/09 -- Packet mailed to DPS
03/19/09 -- Packet received by DPS
XX/XX/09 -- PIN received
XX/XX/09 -- Application Complete
XX/XX/09 -- Plastic in hand

It usually takes about a month for you to receive your pin via snail-mail.

You and me both brother.
I like the fact that they received my packet on 3/19. My Dad's birthday, many great memories shooting with him, especially when he had his Class III license.

Well good new! I got my certified mail receipt back in the mail today! So at least i know they got it haha.

DPS recieved 03/02/09
Check Deposited 03/06/09

Approved xx/xx/xx

Yes, I quoted myself! I haven't taken the time out to figure out this site completely, but I wanted to update my time frame. I have been checking the DPS website daily, twice a day for any updated status and today it was updated to "Processing Application"!
Time frame so far is:
Took class Feb 28th '09
Mailed packet March 2nd '09
Received by DPS March 5th '09
Status changed to "Processing" April 9th '09

General question about change in status:
Is there a strong likelihood because of the understaffing with the CHL division that your change in status (i.e. from Packet Mailed to App TO Processing App) could be reported much later than when the actual status changing. Just not sure how the updating mechanics work and even with technology I gather its not necessarily automated.

Hello to everyone! I was looking around to see how long others were waiting in line... doesn't look good. My Colt Defender .45 will have to wait a little longer. I also ordered an IWB TT Gunleather holster, they are taking about 12 -16 weeks to custom make this. I guess both the CHL and the holster will arrive about the same time. YEA! According to some other dates posted I should see my pin this coming week. Here are my dates:

03/04/09 -- Packet mailed to DPS
03/10/09 -- Received by DPS via certified mail
xx/xx/09 -- PIN received
XX/XX/09 -- Application Complete
