I'm hoping my approximate week from received (assuming it took two days to get there) instead of the typical two weeks to show up on the online system means I may have a quick processing time... probably baseless hopes though.

this is the exact timeline i have on my CHL status just waiting on my background to finish...im buying a holster while waiting to i can hopefully have them both at the same time

Did my usual morning check of the DPS site, and I come to find that my background check is complete! Manufacturing Pending!

So here's my timeline:
8/7/2010: CHL Class
8/10/2010: Mailed to DPS
8/19/2010: Online information Available
8/26/2010: Fingerprints Approved
8/31/2010: Background Check Complete

I think me and a couple other August applications have fallen onto the same desk, because my timeline is very similar to several people who have been posting their progress lately.

Any idea on typical time from "Manufacturing Pending" to mailed?

The DPS seems to really have their stuff together lately. I can't imagine waiting 90+ days like a lot of people did just last year..

Let's hope mine goes to "Mailed" in 4 days from Background Check also!

Checked the CHL site went to mailed.
Sent paper work in on Aug.4 received application back on 18 Aug. due to error, I did not fill out back of app. for last 5 yrs of residence and last 5 yrs of employment mailed it back to them on 20 Aug. now notice that CHL has been mailed less than a month total even with paper work error.
What a country

I think you are probably right on the money with that estimate. Thank goodness for those weekend database updates.

I'll go one further and guess that I'll have plastic in hand by Monday, September 13th.

Status went to mailed today! I hope all others in the August waiting room have a similar turn-around. I'm pleased, and a bit surprised.

I think all of us with these faster than normal turn arounds have been surprised. I was fully expecting 60+ days because of all the horror stories I had read on here. The DPS seems to have a lot of time on their hands these days.

DPS received my packet on August 26, 2010. On Aug. 25 I went to FAST for my fingerprints as suggested by my CHL instructor, but FAST said my fingerprints will DEFINITELY be rejected because the fingerprint ridge definition was not good enough. FAST said after they're rejected I will have to get my fingerprints done again (at no extra charge), and they will probably be rejected again. FAST said then my background check will be done based on my social security number. Has anyone else had fingerprints rejected?

Wow, sorry to hear that. Hope they are right and they do it with the SSN and it only causes a small delay.

I was worried since I have a scar on a finger that messed up the ink prints. I figured they would reject them, but luckily, they didn't.
