Received by DPS date is unknown. I assume the 1st or 2nd since I live 20 miles from their office

I mailed mine on 1/24 and they received it on the 26th. My Background Check is still under review. They must have some people working these that are really good and then there must be some that are, well, not so good!

I picture the CHL department having one of those raffle machines like this:
, and they make a few draws every day. If your number comes up, you get a green check mark. :D

That's probably exactly what happens. They pick up the mail every few days then toss it into a container then just reach in and start application. So an application that just got there the same day has as good\ a chance as an application sent a week earlier.

2/20/11-Online application completed
2/21/11-Presidents Day closed the post office
2/22/11-Packet sent out certified mail and with return receipt
2/26/11-Delivered in Austin

Hopefully your wait won't be as long as mine. Just saw my status has now changed to "Pending Manufacture". My background took about 40 days. Not sure why.

Applied online on Tuesday, February 22nd.
FAST fingerprints on Friday, February 25.
Class on February 26th.
Hubby to send cert. w/ notification tomorrow, February 28th.
Rcv'd notice that one of the required papers didn't have a signature on 4/11. Sent it back w/ signature on 4/12.
As of 4/19, Chl site showed background check green & license mailed.

Just called DPS. They told me all that needed to be done is scan in the photos and make the card then mail it to me!!!!! He also said that my online status would update within 24hrs!!!!!

Man some of you guys are impatient, already harassing the DPS after only 15 days. You guys do know that the more you call the less time they have to process.
Congrats though!!!!
