Right now they're voting on bills from the intent calendar, which means they're pushing back bills on the regular order of business calendar. SB 354 is on both but won't be brought up to suspend the rules unless Senator Wentworth has obtained that all important 21st vote. Otherwise we have to hope that it finally gets heard under the regular order of business calendar.

Rodriguez moves to suspend reg order business to allow more guns in EL PASO hospitals (hire police) El Paso hospitals SB601
because lots of hospital visits by shooting victims from Ciudad Juarez.
Ogden interrupts ... shouldn't "create another police force" let county/city police handle it instead of hospital districts creating police depts
Rodriguez asserts Hospitals are becoming less safe and wants more police depts for El Paso hospital district
Ogden says hire security guards which are off duty officers ... there are so many police depts now
just everyone want to be able to create police depts now and there are too many depts now
school districts
utility district ...
lol I figured he'd say Water ...Windmill district
Another Senator says this creates Statewide certified peace officers ... Ogden is correct

But there's no border violence.
Is this just for El Paso, or statewide? Brownsville, McAllen, and Laredo may take exception.

.... attempts to create a NEW Police Dept. just for El Paso HOSPITAL DISTRICT only
Other Senator "How they gonna pay for it?
(Sounds like they need to remove the 30.06 sign on the hospital if it's so unsafe)
Rodriguez
Gunmen walk into hospitals in Juarez and kill people. El Paso hospitals are UNSAFE
(But UTEP is safe)

The reason for it is that they 'feel unsafe' as there are potentials for violence as a number of the patients are there due to the cartel targeting them.
He stated that other hospitals around the country have had violence and they are scared.
There is more PROVEN violence on campus where there is ALREADY Police Forces.... well, what good will this do? Gee...

Why would anyone NEED Police or guns in Hospitals where drugs are stored in El Paso?
Drug cartels bring their own drugs don't they?
Citing a shooting at UNIVERSITY .... Pediatric ward ... in 2011
Wait, isn't it a gun-free zone?
ELLIS STANDS UP .... Isnt it odd CHLS want guns on campus
You want hospital where a student gets shot for a failing grade to have police annd they object..

And now Sen Ellis says that some of the people "want to put "Handguns in every dorm" and "AK-47s" in everyones hands", and they are fighting putting a police force
So Sen. Ellis is comparing the hospital with university

Ellis should have said
"So you want police to protect the hospital where CHLs who are Faculty, Staff and Students are admitted because we denied them the right to protect themselves?
