This looks like very good news!
Hasn't it almost perpetually been on the intent calendar and just not brought up?
Didn't want to say anything, but yep.

I wonder if Wentworth is saying "I'll pull the amendment as soon as I get my 21 votes". And sees who flinches first.

SB321 is back from the House and on the Senate's calendar for today as well.
Ohhh, this should be interesting!

I just finished calling all 30 senators (phew!) to say 'thank you' for their votes for SB 321. Wound up having a very pleasant 15 minute conversation w. the staffer in Zaffirini's office about campus carry. Since she's the chair of the higher ed committee, there's basically a snowball's chance in hell that she'd vote for SB 354 as a tradeoff for removing the language from SB 5. Just too much united pressure from all the university heads. Plus all the hand-wringing from the Austin college students.

Yeah, it's too bad University heads can't contact their counterparts in other states and on other campuses where this is legal, and find out how thngs have changed for the better. Maybe there will be a technology implemented in colleges to allow that one day. Until then, I guess they'll just have to stay in their bubbles.

Wllfull ignorance just annoys the bejeebers out of me.

I thought about comparing these unfounded 2A restrictions to restrictions on free speech... then I realized universities have no problems violating 1A rights, either :banghead:

True, SOME have designated "free speech" zones open certain hours ... :headscratch
"rlol"
----------
Currently on Senate floor is Doctors being able to dispense drugs SB 546
The Senator who is a pharmacist and owned pharmacies objects to blurring the line ...

(During prohibition, Doctors in Lubbock could prescribe whiskey, you had to go downstairs to the saloon, I mean drug store to get it filled)

She wants them kept separate to preserve Pharmacists jobs at the expense of small towns where no pharmacy exists and gas prices high/transportation scarce so it's detrimental to patients to benefit her profession.

It might decrease burglaries of the veterinary office to get the same medications though. Years ago, I knew a guy who weighed half as much as his horse who cut pills in half/weighed twice as much as his dog, so he'd take 2 .... bought antibiotics at the fish aquarium store off the shelf... :nono: Wasn't like he couldn't afford a doctor, he was a multi-millionaire with great insurance. :banghead:

Did Ellis just ask Dewhurst if guns are allowed in the chamber?

It was really off the cuff, during debate on SB 1584, after Dewhurst asked Ellis & ?? to approach the front desk.

"rlol" I don't know, wish I'd heard that ... I admit there was silence soooo long I dozed off
Usually Ogden wakes me up when he says "Are we on a break?" ... but since this is his bill ...

Still on the natural gas tax price exemption something 1584

Well the three terms are confusing ... when talking about the same thing ,,,
tax cut ...
tax loophole ...
economic development tool

Good example of
Advocacy in wording/diction/word choice
---------------
Reminds me of Brady "closing loopholes" a/k/a "taking freedoms"

20 required (2/3 of those present) but only 16 ayes ... amendment fails to pass

28 ayes 2 nays ...1584 gas bill passes as amended
----------

Wentworth moves to suspend ROB to hear 1543
School districts investing in corporate bonds ...

Can benefit public schools ... they could make more money
Ellis interrupts to act foolish a minute
Wentworth moves to engrossment
Objection ...
24 ayes ...
Moves final passage
24 ayes 2 nayes ... finally passed
-------------------------------------------
SB 18 now
Eminent Domain passed
________
Wentworth brings up SB 1113
School district food service + Food service "management companies" hired by school districts
rules suspended
moves passage
passed to engrossment no objections
3rd reading
... finally passed 30 ayes no nays
-----------------

Note:they intend to adjourn at 1:30 ... it's 1:19 now .... just silence on the floor; people milling around; class of children in gallery leaving; Senators negotiating a hostess twinkee for a little debbie snack cake and PB&J for a ham sandwich ... or something.
