I've never heard anyone seriously use that as support for open carry. If it's not a rights or choice issue, then it's self centered and can do more harm than good.

Who?

Speaking of which......
"HB 2756 (Dead - Calenders Committee failed to schedule it for floor vote after it passed HS/PS Committee with flying colors)"
Is how it's characterized on their website. Is it hard hardheadedness? Is it being clueless? Is it self promoting? It is delusional? I'm thinking all of the above, and just goofy too. BUt it did make me chuckle and shake my head.

And I have no sympathy if you are "uncomfortable" with the idea that the right to bear arms should not be infringed.

I think you need to reconsider your concept of "legitimate". The LSCDL started because the TSRA refused to take significant action for years, and as an alternative to their well publicized (if publicly denied) hostility to open carry. So, want to talk about legitimate, look to the group that was associated with actual legislation in key areas.

So why does it have to be licensed? Why not either define traveling in 46.01 as not being on property you own or control? Or, even better, add "concealed" in front of handgun in 46.02? Unlicensed open carry, licensed concealed carry.

By legitimate, I meant organizations that have successfully gotten legislation introduced, hleped it through committee, and secured the votes needed for passage. Getting a bill introduced is the easy step, you need only to convince one congressman that it's a good idea. Getting out of committee isn't too hard either, you need only convince a handfull of congressmen to vote favorably in committee especially when committee members know that the bill will never see the light of day. As a poker player, I have seen lots of bills make it out of committee only to die in calendars. TSRA and NRA have experience pushing bills that eventually become law because they understand how it's done, they are on the inside. LonestarCDL does not have the experience in Austin to successfully drive legislation.
My earlier statement was not meant to discredit LSCDL, just to point out the fact that they do not have the experience nor are they willing to bend enough to get a bill through. I too am frustrated with the NRA and TSRA at their attitudes towards open carry, but it is a political fact in this state that you are not going to pass gun related bills while holding a certain finger up at those two organizations. I don't like it, but it is the landscape that we find ourselves in.

I'm not putting up with one more post falsely claiming TSRA or NRA doing anything to oppose open-carry. It not true and don't do it again.

Has the NRA or TSRA made any effort to get open carry passed? From what I've seen they haven't officially put forth any ideas for bills for open carry legislation. Just my observation but although they, as organizations, haven't opposed or backed any open carry bills people who claim to be in the know about these organizations are critical of others effort to get open carry passed.
I'm sure I'm wrong about this so please correct me!

Last time I asked, I was told by the TSRA that there is no support for open carry and they will continue working their agenda instead. That sounds like opposition to me.
The only posts I've seen from you on it are negative, how it will never be passed, or how you can't do it this way or that way. I can't recall a single constructive comment you've made on it. Could you show me any?
