Jaguar,
Excellent ideas!
I guess the fact that I generally don't watch sports (o.k. I watch only boxing as I prefer my violent sports undiluted) shouldn't stop me from doing something similar...

Great response to the Bob Costas rant.
To blame a gun for mans decision is to foolishly attribute free will to an inanimate object.
The ability to own or carry a firearm is a right not a commandment and I respect the rights of any individual who chooses not to carry or own a firearm. I only ask that the same courtesy be granted to me when I choose to exercise my right to do so.

An expansion of the initial thoughts from Costas and Whitlock...now apparently the NRA is the new KKK.
"I believe the NRA is the new KKK," Whitlock said. "And that the arming of so many black youths, and loading up our community with drugs, and then just having an open shooting gallery, is the work of people that obviously don’t have our best interests.”

Glad you posted this.
John Lott is one of my heroes - I truly love the way he can marshall facts to defend the RTKBA.

Good to see that the conservative right doesn't have a monopoly on tin-foil hat crowds!

There is a fundamental difference between the two....what you call the right is arguing that B did something instead of A --as claimed by authority; the Whitlock types on the left are saying "we're not responsible for our own behavior, we're the victims of manipulation by society (racists) and incapable of resisting temptation even when we know it is provided by forces bent on our destruction."

But the commonality would be the "they're out to get us" mentality that shows up with most conspiracy theorists. If you lay aside the hair-splitting differences, both sides are essentially the same except for which side each is swinging from.

But someone....I'll go ahead and say "they," is/are out to get us, including: Obama, Holder, Rice, Hillary, Sarah Brady, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, more than half the Senate, about half the House, etc.
