I will take any review I can get. We started out with I think about 32 and now have 25. We have had people quit, 2 get fired, 2 that should have been fired but they placed a few classes back (politics?). Two added from prior classes. There are 23 of us that have been in the class since day one. So all in all you could say we lost a total of 8-9 people?
I am very shocked I havent flunked out. It took a long time for me to get into a groove on these test. I went from making 70s to mid 80s. I would be excited but we only have 2 test left lol. I really wouldn't take it so personal if people werent passing with flying colors. The very same people ask questions and do things that really make you wonder how they dress themselves in the morning. Im not here to judge others though. Thanks for all the help and support from everyone.
I would especially like to publically thank DocV. If anyone is in a shortage of friends and needs a good one, he can definetly fill those shoes with no problem.
We are doing report writing this week so I should be posting more. Other than all that everything else is the same.
Just receieved an email that a suspect was shot last night at a local walmart after producing a knife while being escorted back to loss prevention. Suspect was shot in the leg after cutting up the officers hands. Doubt it makes anything other than a 20 second local news though. Not controversial enough for the media to exploit. I will say one thing I didn't expect to gain from this job and that is a deep loathing I have for the media. Prior to this I just really didn't pay any mind.

I should of posted this already as it pertains more to the forum than the subject of this thread. We actually had a 2 hour block on concealed handguns. I was actually pretty shocked they provided that. I would say about 1/16th of the class has concealed handgun permits and through conversations I am the only person that actively carries. The class was presented pretty well I think, well for people new to the concept anyways.
While giving the presentation he was armed with about 5 pistols no one was aware of. He presented shoulder, small of back, appendix, 3 o clock or IWB hip, and ankle. Also mentioned a vest hoslter. The class was to help people who had concerns about conealing a full size pistol. In order for the department to cover us geting into a shooting on or off duty we have to be cleared with that weapon. So my Glock 19 would not be cleared. However, if I got into to something off duty but did not announce I was an officer ??? a lot of grey area. I have heard mixed things on that whole mess. I won't be cleared to carry a Glock in who the heck knows when.
The instructor provided a printed list of companies which I thought was cool. One thing he didn't meantion or seem to really care about was retention for the hoslter or the gun. He did state that covering the trigger was the most important. Is that just me being picky?

I have passed everything including TCOLE thus far. Supposedly I am free to go anywhere now. Dallas has a Spanish final and I think a bunch more crap till March. Mckinnet is hiring at 10k more a year but I have heard such mixed crap about other departments it makes me wonder. I know if they say I have to go through Collin Countys academy I am saying NOOOOO!! Pepper spray will never touch this face again unless someone wants bullets flying back as a response. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Spanish final. Defensive Tactics final, and some scenerio finals are left. Getting mixed information on what happens if you fail them. Considering I dont plan to fail any I try not to pay any mind to it. I went to apply for Mckinney and they closed job opening. I would like to know if anyone wants to explain how to find out if the agency is an AT WILL. Only one I know for sure in my area is Frisco.
The main drive for me looking elsewhere isn't money as much as insurance. Pay about 550 a month for me, wife, 2 kids. We cant go to the doctor for less than 100.00 and that isn't including prescriptions. Daughters antibiotics were 75.00 this weekend.
Thats the only other update really I guess.

Didn't you have a guarenteed job at DPD or are you looking for something closer to home? Forgive me if this has been answered already. DFW has plenty of great departments to work for. As for as at will, try sherrif departments, most big PDs are all now civil service.
