During the George Zimmerman saga, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence had so many lies on their site it made my stomach turn. The more ground they lose, the more desperate they get and the more lies they manufacture.
The lies they tell make each of us look bad as a gun owners and have even encouraged the “swatting” of gun owners.
Is there any practical way of stopping this?
Unfortunately there is no PRACTICAL way of stopping it, and suing for intentional slant has been tried and failed, which leaves suing for lying. IANAL, but suing for lying is no practical because first you have to prove that they are lying, and organizations like the brady bunch are wily enough to have attorneys of their own who can prove that even if what they said wasn't true, they thought it was true, and therefore were not lying.
I guess I have been wrong all along. I thought it was incumbent on the person slandering you to prove what they said is true.
That's some old school thinking right there......we're in the "post-modern" era now...meaning post logic, post responsibility, post reason, post reality, post truth, and post consequences (well, post consequences for everyone except us old reactionaries).

As put by a knowledgeable lawyer, "Truth is almost always a valid and acceptable defense for defamation under U.S. law — except when it’s not."

I signed a few days ago, somewhere around 305-310 I think. I'm surprised there aren't more signatures. I won't say what I think or wish about CSGV as it probably isn't acceptable.

I suspect Emily's petition of support is about to get much more activity. A tweet was just sent and she replied and favorited it.

I think you just sent it sky-high - thanks, mate

As of this moment, 1,246. Big improvement, and if that rate continues, it will shortly swamp the prohibitionists.

A lot of folks underestimate the power of social media nowadays. It's the times we live in and you just have to look at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. for a reminder. The progressives werebmasters at it in 2008.

Only 33 more signatures needed to hit Andy C's original goal. Help hit blow through the goal and let the anti's know we won't back down or shy away from a fight.
