Found this site while researching some course develpment material and thought I'd register and stick around for a bit.
I'm 30, married, 3 kids, carry a Springfield Ultra-Compact 1911, and just got my CHL this year. I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps and got out in 2005; after my last tour in Iraq and hearing my kids grow up over the phone I figured my job was done over there.
Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome and thank you for your sevice to the country.
So, when picking pockets, do you find many good carry pieces?

I've been here for a little while, not too long, but long enough to really start liking this site. I've lurked on some others, but no one is near as friendly as some of the folks on this site that have been willing to help me out.
I'm a bit younger than most on this board, but I have a real interest in the laws behind CHL and how to change some of them. I had a bit of a rough start on this forum, I think I accidentally upset a few members (specifically you TXinvestigator, which I didn't intend to do and have found TX to be a wealth of information that is a great addition to this forum). So anyone that I'm on bad terms with please forgive me.
Early twenties
Male
Telecommunications Specialist
Have a beautiful wife to be
I'm an current Aggie
Had CHL for near a year
Carry choices are growing constantly. Usually it's a Kimber (either Raptor II or Ultra carry II), Kahr PM9 or if I'm in the woods it's a Glock cuz they just don't die. Usually it's IWB or OWB except for the Kahr, that lives in my pocket.
I've got a lot of others, just don't carry them much.
So, thanks for the great forum! And all the friendly attitudes.

Unfortunately, no!
Actually, the name is a throwback to my days in the Corps. I picked it up when my natural abilities to "acquire" essential gear were discovered :)

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the site and also new to being an CHL Instructor. But I'm not new to being a CHL holder. I'm Elgato's daughter, so I've had my CHL almost since the beginning.
I just got back from getting my Instructor's License Thusday. Even though I'd had been observing in my Dad's CHL classes and have been shooting forever. I was TERRIFIED! My first night in Austin I ran into Charles Cotton. When I let him know how nervous I was he became my go to person. Everything I didn't agree with or wasn't sure about or even just nervous about. I would go talk to Charles. He really made me feel more at ease. I truly appreciate all his Knowledge and experiance. THANK'S CHARLES.
Also Dad said that I should mention what type of guns I perfer. That would be the XD 9 and a Bersa 380. THe Bersa is what I carry.
Look forward to being on the forum.

Welcome abby06. Thanks for the kind words, but you give me too much credit. You were a natural for the class and to be an instructor. I enjoyed visiting with you folks. How was the shooting on Thursday? What time did you get away from the range?
Chas.

Charles, Please don't underestimate the calming effect you had on Karen and I both. The shooting went better than what I was expecting. Next year I know that I have more time to aim better then what I thought. Even with that, I was pleased with what I shot. We got away from there around 11:00. I just figured out that Sigirl is the one that scored my target. Thanks again
