Alright! Back from a 3-day patrol of the Corpus Christi Bay and the Gulf of Mexico!

I am Coast Guard, stationed currently aboard the Cutter Brant in the harbor at Corpus Christi. Thanks for the welcome and greetings, guys!
And I was in the Navy for a bit, Chief. I was an AT3 aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower from 2001-2004. Decided the Navy wasn't for me and went Coastie. Where are you stationed?

Ah, Marble Falls. I have some cousins up there. Don't think they're interested in signing up, though.

But if they change their mind, I'll let you know.

Well, that's ok. Actually most of the branches, yep even Coasties! are full and we are actually having to be "picky". Not that your cousins would not qualify, but just that I am not really actively "looking". Kinda nice for a change! I actually have time to do things I like - you know, like get on this forum A LOT!

Much more "fun"
But, if they are interested, let me know, I would be glad to give them information.

Marble Falls is a nice area. Good fodder for recruiting, I would think. I was recruited in Brownwood, not too far from there. Did a stint recruiting in Arlington (3 years of that). Recruiting is definitely not a job for everyone, and I commend you for it. Perhaps I'll get down there sometime and we can swap stories. I was recruiting during Desert Storm. That was lot of fun. Economy was booming, life was good, finding candidates was a bear. Got spit on in one school. One kid's mother, when I made a cold call, said, "Don't you know we are at WAR???" It was all I could do at times to maintain my professionalism.
Keep up the good work, Chief!

New to this- in Houston.
Timelines appear in the signature, but what's amazing to me is that its more than 2 weeks and they don't acknowledge having it.

HI holdfast, welcome to the forum! There's a wealth of information here at your fingertips, and a great bunch of people to get to know.
As USA1 says, it may take up to 4 weeks for it to change to "processing app". It's crazy the way it works. I've yet to discover the method to their madness.

It is quite maddening, isn't it!
Hi holdast,
Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy your stay. I think I am one of the newer ones, look at my timeline - the red font is when it was changed to "processing application". Hang in there, it WILL change.

Well, I guess this is where we belong. We mailed all the paperwork on August 29 so it's really only been a month. I'm hearing that they are actually getting a bit caught up, whatever that might mean.
So I'll be carrying a Sig P6 (P225) and the wife has a Glock 19. Both a little large but that's what we have now. We'll be cruising the boards trying to figure out the best "long term" carry for each of us.
Anyway, this place seems to be a friendly and respectful environment. Wonder if Heinlein (?) had this place in mind when he said "An armed society is a polite society."
