That’s "reported" cases. It’s a safe bet that China’s numbers are actually higher. They just lie out the wazoo.

It’s ALSO worth noting that the number of American dead is doubling rapidly now. We were at a little over 800 dead just 2 days ago—Wednesday. It’s just shy of 1,700 right now, on Friday. At this rate, don’t be surprised if the number of dead hits 3,400 on Sunday, 6,800 on Tuesday, 13,600 on Thursday, etc.

This is bad.

Abbott Laboratories won U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for its molecular test for the Coronavirus strain COVID-19, which the company says can deliver “positive results in as little as five minutes and negative results in 13 minutes.”

Germany's numbers, taken from a coronavirus "dashboard": 53,037 (confirmed) - 351(deaths) - 11,311(recovered) - 939 (serious)
South Korea's numbers: 9,478 (cases) - 144(deaths) - 4,811(recovered) - 0(serious)

So, why do those two countries have numbers that look like that? Someone really, really needs to find out, and quick.

I believe it is an issue of testing for china virus. I believe far more of us have it or have gotten it and recovered than the numbers are showing. As more people are tested and found to have it or had it, we will soon realize this whole thing was extremely over blown. The death rates are already dropping and getting closer to the good old fashion seasonal flue.

Key takeaways:

1. Germany's version of the CDC makes recommendations to the states, but each of Germany's 16 states have the responsibility for their own testing (decentralized, rather than centralized at the federal level. Ours in the U.S. seems to have been modified in response to COVID-19 from centralized to decentralized). Thus they had more labs, & more testing earlier on.

2. Germany tested early & often. This likely captured minor cases to include within the numbers.

3. The end of the article implies that the disease is on the rise in Germany, & may exceed Germany's capacity for testing.

4. This article does not mention if Germany has a larger inventory of ventilators, which are needed for the most serious cases.

South Korea has a different culture than we do, & I would think our Constitution would prohibit some of the more drastic measures that other countries have used to 'isolate' individuals & families. It works for them, but may face Constitutional challenges here.

Basic math. The response has to be a local response. He proved that point. No sense in shutting down a region when their local rates are not climbing and their capacity is nowhere near challenged. This is why counties & states need to take ownership of the responsibilities & response.
