Oh how I love to read things like that! Fine men I am sure...fine men.

Late bloomer here goes:
35 years-old
Male
Firefighter
Divorced
CHL since July this year
Cowboy Action Shooting, SASS member
Carry Gear:
S&W 642 with Uncle Mikes pocket holster and CT Lasergrips
FM High Power Detective with Bianchi Professional 100 holster
Kahr K9 with Bianchi Professional 100 holster or Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster
A little bit about me. I was a late starter. Didn't grow up around guns, mom hated them and none of my family hunted, so my first exposure to firearms was when I met my wife. She bought me my first two guns, a Browning Buckmark and a Ruger 10/22. Thus started the slippery slope that lead me to the world of "evil" firearms, I've never enjoyed something so much.

Fast forward ten years, my marriage didn't last, but my newfound hobby did. I've got a burgeoning gun collection, staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment, cowboy action shooter and considering starting IDPA and Three Gun matches. I'm not the worlds best shooter, but I'm enthusiastic about it.

Welcome Texfire. Great looking carry guns. One of my carry guns is a S&W 340PD with the Crimson Laser Grips.

I should have done this last week, before I started posting
45 years old
CHL for a bit over a year.
TSRA, NRA, USCCA member
Submariner during my 10 year in the Navy
I did grow up around firearms.
My Dad got me a .22/.410 for my 7th birthday. It was mine, and it stayed in my room. Using it as a toy would never have crossed my mind. He and Jay Boone taught me about shooting and firearm safety. Hunting with my Dad and shooting with Mr. Boone are some of my best memories. As are the memories of teaching my daughters how to shoot.

I'll turn 30 the day after Christmas.
I'm a dude.
I'm currently Active Duty Army (National Guard), but my real job is firefighter/emt and on my off days, I'll start working at Texas Tactical.
I'm married to the most wonderful woman in the world. I have two boys (6 and 4) and another boy on the way (due February).
I received my first CHL in the mail on June 29, 1998... when I was 21 and a half. I was in a fatal shooting six days later... long story, but short version, I was no-billed and carry to this day.
I know Kay Granger is my Congresswoman... and she's awesome!
I have a whole bunch of guns, and I'm proficient in them all... I carry Hydrashoks exclusively. My personal website is
http://www.hydrashok.com :)
Welp, I believe I've satisfied all the introductory requirements so I won't be further chastized :)

Howdy. I found your forum a couple of weeks ago and have enjoyed reading so much I decided to register even though I don't have a CHL and probably won't in the near future. I've thought about doing so since the beginning back in the mid 90's. I even laid out a deposit and bought a Taurus M85CH. I'm hot and cold on the idea and can never make the committment to get it done. I guess the problem is I don't know if I could take a life if I was put in that situation, so I avoid it.
Here are my vital statistics:
Age: 50 as of January 2006
Gender: Male
Marital status: Married with two step kids
Sr. Customer Engineer AKA Electro/Mechanical Technician
Years CHL: None
Present guns: Taurus M85 (once stolen and returned by PD in horrible condition), Para Ordnance 14.40, Browning Buckmark .22, and my dad's old Ranger .22 singleshot rifle that gave me tons of pleasure from the age of 12.
Other interests include RVs and motorcycles. We presently own a 33' motorhome but have trouble finding time to take trips. It's almost as difficult to find time to ride my bike which is a 2001 Suzuki Intruder 1400.
I've enjoyed reading your posts and hope I can contribute something to your community.

Thanks for the welcome. GlockenHammer, I agree wholeheartedly with your comment. I've had people think I was nuts when they found out I enjoy shooting. Then as the discussion progresses, the subject of taking a life comes up. Often the most outspoken gun critics have no qualms about taking a life. I just don't understand it.
I'm a strong believer in the right of self-defense, but cannot picture myself shooting someone. As you can imagine, I can see myself hesitating and having my own weapon used against me. So I do the smart thing and avoid situations that could force me to make that decision. At the same time, if someone broke into the house and was a threat to the family, I know there wouldn't be any hesitation.

Most of the advice comes in other threads, but I'll give you one of my thoughts here. Having a concealed gun on you gives you an option. It is up to you at the time to decide if you want to avail yourself of that option. I struggle with the same issues you do (I think you'll find most of us do).
Again, welcome.

Welcome TxRVer. We have a 35' 5th wheel. We love to travel. We have not been any place in over a year because of my health. It is something we enjoy much. Wished we were full timers.
