If guns are going to be a part of your life, she can't. Sorry.

Somehow I think young females might have more tendency to accept what "authority figures" tell them than young males do.lunchbox wrote: i was in school not so long ago and i was treated to that very same indoctrination however i did not let those liberals ruin me
Wow man, that sounds like some pretty disconnected values ( or lack thereof ). I agree that it might be time to re-evaluate the inventory of that relationship.Kythas wrote:So I got in a fight with my girlfriend this weekend about carrying. She can't believe that, when I told her I was getting my CHL and told her I'd be carrying a gun, I meant that I'd really be carrying a gun.
She even went so far as to say she'd rather a BG kill her or me than have me kill someone in defense of her or my life. I brought up the shootings at VA Tech and the church in Colorado and mentioned that someone with a CHL at VA Tech (if it were legal to carry on campus) could have stopped the killer and saved many lives, much as the woman in Colorado did. She actually responded with "How do you know it wasn't their time to go and that's what was meant to happen?"
Arguments of mine that "How do you know if we're ever in that situation and I'm armed, it's not HIS time to go and I was meant to stop him?" fell on deaf ears.
Has anyone else ever had this "discussion" with your significant other?
Don't be so quick to throw the baby out with the bath water. My students are fully aware that I exercise my Second Amendment rights and advocate for responsible use of weapons. I don't think I'm much of an exception either.LarryH wrote: Your ex-girlfriend was brainwashed by the politically correct educational system.

Aren't we responsible for what we let into into our own brains, and our parents responcibility to explain this to us. Some of the most briliant right thinking people came from leftist schools. Even the most leftist of schools are suppose to teach us that we need to think for ourselves.lunchbox wrote:Venus Pax wrote:Don't be so quick to throw the baby out with the bath water. That comment really bothers me. I am putting myself in your shoes and if I had a girlfriend who said that to me and truly, honestly meant that...then I would have to wonder what kind of future we would have. If we got married and had family would this woman let a BG abduct, abuse, or kill our child than try a defend and protect the child or herself? That is a hard to have think about.Kythas wrote: She even went so far as to say she'd rather a BG kill her or me than have me kill someone in defense of her or my life.

My wife of 13 years wasnt too keen at first of me carrying. At first, in her mind only the police should be allowed to carry. However it didnt take too much convincing for her to realize how important it is to be able to defend yourself and family. Now she wants a CHL. I know she would defend (including having to use deadly force) herself, me, and especially our child without question.
Have you guys considered pointing these disadvantaged ladies toward http://www.corneredcat.com/ ? I've started many a lady down the path of lead enabled security systems by pointing them to that website. If they're not computer people try going there yourself and printing off a few articles. That's an awesome website.jeeperbryan wrote:can you post pics of her? that will help us in helping you :)
in all seriousness though. my fiance doesn't appear to be comfortable around guns either. but i carry around her all the time. she thinks i just carry every now and then. it is a good test for me because if she can't tell that i'm carrying, means that no one else can tell. now all i need to do is work on getting her comfortable with the AR15.
I would, but it doesn't really matter now because we're no longer together.jeeperbryan wrote:can you post pics of her? that will help us in helping you :)
then you have nothing to worry about :) post away.Kythas wrote:
