Wow. Two links for biodiesel companies and three that point to quick-lube franchises. Not exaxtly what I'd call automotive service professionals.

I should have kept my promise to stay out of this discussion. To use Mr. 72's description, this thread has become "a colossal waste of time."

That's great news. I think you are making an excellent choice. Let us know when you take your ASVAB, and what kind of jobs they want to put you into. Best of luck!lunchbox wrote:ok i just talked to a navy recruiter and looks like I'm going to try to get into shape and join the navy

Good luck to you with all of your endeavors. I still think the USMC would be a better choice… And yes I know it is a branch of the Navy… Just a better branch.

Submarines and targets.
Actually, submarines are referred to as "boats". "Ships" are targets.

Actually calories are the enemy. Doesn't matter how you get the calories. It's just easy to cut carbs completely and as a result end up cutting calories but you will be low on energy and this is not a generally healthy sustainable diet.DoubleJ wrote:Ah heard that! good luck, in the meantime. remember, Carbs are the enemy!
You need carbs for energy, plain and simple. You don't need very much fat in your diet, and unless you are actively trying to add muscle (which won't work if you're also losing weight, at least not in a general sense), you don't need a whole lot of protein either. Maybe about 100g or less of protein per day, as little fat as you can possible handle, and try and get all of the rest of your calories from complex carbohydrate sources and high-fiber foods.
For someone 6' tall and 300+ lb, you can strictly count calories and stay under about 1700 cals/day and you will survive just fine and lose 2+ lb per week. If you eat mostly complex carbs, 100g of protein a day, harshly limit fat and simple sugars then once you get over the first month or so of getting used to being hungry and gain some tolerance for being in ketosis all the time you will feel fine and you can sustain this until you get within about 10-20% of your "ideal weight". Things go better if you also exercise but I would suggest that trading in your joints in favor of low weight is not worth it in the long run, so pick exercise that is zero or low impact (i.e. not running) and that is 500-1000 calories/hr burn rate (cycling, swimming, etc.). Every extra calorie you burn in daily exercise is another calorie you can consume and maintain your weight loss.
