To those of you waiting and checking status's, I just received my plastic today (12/14/10) in the mail and my online status still says under review for fingerprints and background check. Took 66 days from time packet was hand delivered to plastic in hand. I was in the military and have lived in 8 different states in the past ten years so it took a little while longer to pass the background check. The online status is pointless in my opinion, don't let it run your life like it did mine for the past 2 months! (Checking 2-3 times a day)

Adios waiting room, Kudos to the DPS for their efficiency! Good luck to all who remain waiting, don't bother checking the website ever because mine still says they are waiting to receive my materials.

Thanks to all who have come before and contribute to this forum (and who used to wait for months and months). . . this is the best place on the web for advice. I will continue to read, learn, and now, carry!

I finally (today) received the letter stating that they received my application. It was dated 12/9, postmarked 12/13. I mailed my pure paper application on 11/22, the check cleared on 11/30. I did email DPS yesterday, they said that my current status is waiting for background check.

Online system has not worked for me at all (being a pure paper application). I think the online system is borked anyhow.

Called today and was told the online system is crashed and has been for two weeks. They confirmed they have my application..... Thanks for calling....... You know this is a two month process right?.......Goodbye......

Get home and I have a letter that says I they have received my application and I can check my status by going to http://www.texasonline.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; No PIN or anything. I think somebody needs to revamp the current system. Just sayin...

It was my day on December 15th and now I am officially out of the waiting room
Here is my final timeline.
Electronic application submitted on November 5
Paper documents sent on November 8
Delivered on November 10 (confirmation)
Plastic received on December 15.

No status updates all this time. Still says waiting for required materials...

My renewal plastic came this week. Mailed on 11/22, plastic on 12/14. Not a bad turn around! Website was never updated...

Woohooo. Santa came early. Plastic in the mailbox today.

Package sent Nov 22. Received by DPS on Nov 29.
Never any updates online
Plastic received Dec 24.

25 days total.

My license got here today. Here's my full timeline:

11/20 - took class
11/22 - mailed "all paper" application, with paper fingerprints
11/30 - check cleared bank
12/15 - received acknowledgement letter
12/27 - plastic in hand

Web site never did anything for me ("could not log you in; select "apply" blah blah blah").

Mailed packet 11/29/10
Card mailed 12/21/10

This wait is worse than the rest of it. :)
