2 Republicans voted no.

Now, why would they walk out, and not just vote no? Could it be they don't want a no vote on the record?

Could be, but more likely it's that whenever the political going gets tough, the democrats leave town (Texas redistricting, Minnesota right-to-work bill). They take their toys and go home and don't want to play anymore. Children.

Every Dem that walked out needs to be defeated in their next election. This is the list. Get 'er done!

Now, there were two votes... one for Contempt of Congress (this one with the two republicans voting against), and one for something to do with Civil Contempt of Congress (dunno the difference... I think the civil kind allows congress to get uncivilized on someone). In that vote, no republicans voted no, but four didn't vote at all:
Jeff Fortenberry (R) - Nebraska, District 1
Andy Harris (R) - Maryland, District 1
Vicky Hartzler (R) - Missouri, District 4
Jerry Lewis (R) - California, District 41

Shocker!

Justice Department shields Holder from prosecution after contempt vote
Deputy Attorney General James Cole confirmed in a letter to House Speaker John Boehner that the department in fact would not pursue prosecution. The attorney general's withholding of documents pertaining to Operation Fast and Furious, he wrote, "does not constitute a crime."

Here's an interesting article on DOJ's stance on executive privilege asserted by the White House in the Fast & Furious debacle compared to DOJ's stance on Texas' deliberative process privilege in the upcoming Texas Voter ID Law case scheduled to start July 9th, 2012.

Link
It’s clear, when one compares the Justice Department’s position on executive and deliberate process privilege in the Texas voter ID litigation with its position on the privilege in the congressional investigation of Operation Fast and Furious, that neither Eric Holder nor Barack Obama want the same rules applied to them that they would apply to the governor of Texas and members of the state legislature. They don’t believe there are any privileges that should apply to shield the state’s documents, and if there are, they should be “abrogated” by a court because of the “extraordinary” importance of upholding the requirements of the Voting Rights Act.

Did anyone else see Geraldo Rivera on the O'Reilly Factor with Laura Ingraham tonight? Wow... I'm not even sure how I'd describe that... :headscratch

In any case, my opinion of him is much lower now.

Geraldo said "gun walking is done all the time" among many stupid things. "This investigation is all political hackery"

Laura accused him of grandstanding. It is quite an exchange.

"The Mustache" is anything but a conservative, and he just doesn't know much about guns except that they make "The Mustache" look even more macho if he carries one in Afghannyland where all macho men with mustaches have guns. I ceased being impressed with that blister a long time ago.
