NightWatch Special Comment: Ambassador Anne Patterson's April Glaspie moment.
...............
Glaspie misunderstood and misjudged the Iraqi leadership and the situation in Iraq. Patterson's operations at the US Embassy in Cairo bespeak a comparable misjudgment of the Egyptian Arab situation, its volatility and the depth of anti-American sentiment.

She did not permit US Marine guards to carry live ammunition, according to USMC blogs. Thus she neutralized any US military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy.
If that turns out to be true, she doesn't need to be our ambassador to anyone anymore.

So I'm with Romney on this one.
I am with you. If the message had been removed immediately upon the discovery of it by the higher-ups then I would say "let it go..some unthinking low level worker got ahead of himself" However it stayed up for a whole day and a half and was reiterated, the consulate and the administration own this. Romney is free to comment as he sees fit.

Obama is not responsible for what unauthorized staffers do on government websites, shame on Romney.

Boy the newsmedia ( except Fox News) sure isn't.

Holy Cow! The MSM beating down Romney and ignoring the pacifist tweet (backed up by the administration) that caused his comments? I'm amazed. Not!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope this is not true, but one website is saying that the ambassador was assaulted in a manner that is not fit for children's eyes and ears to even know of before he was killed. The adults here will know what I am speaking of. I feel ill all over again. Is there any truth to this?

Dunno... AFAIK Fox isn't saying anything about it, anyway.

In related news, Obama can't find time to meet with Israel's PM because he's busy getting ready to be on Letterman, but he can find time to meet with the Muslim Brotherhood.

I heard this on the radio on the way home from work. They said they obtained the information from a newsource in Libya, but it was not confirmed. How could anyone who claims to adhere to any religion or sense of morality not be apalled and disgusted? :mad5

Latest breaking news was the report that our State Dept had credible intel that there was a threat up to 48 hours before the consulate was attacked.

I'm not sure if State Dept intel would be a part of the President's daily security briefs. Of course, since he skips most of them, I'm not sure he would know either.

This whole situation is saddening and disgusting.

:iagree:

It is not a coincidence this occurred on the anniversary of 9/11. Radical Islamists are known for their appreciation of significant dates. This was not a spontaneous outpouring over a youtube video, but possibly a distraction for something else. More likely, it was a planned and coordinated para-military operation. Their intentions of which very well could be to build an uprising and destabilize the local governments, and ultimately the region. Especially when there is an important American election on the horizon...

POTUS said today (on Telemundo) that Egypt is not an ally.
"I don't think that we would consider them an ally, but we do not consider them an enemy,"
You know... like... Egypt.. that country with the pyramids... um.. next door to Israel, I think.. Um... Like... No... Not an ally.

This latest unforgivable whopper was later walked back by the State Department (emphasis mine)
spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said, Egypt is considered a major non-NATO ally.

and the White House
"'Ally' is a legal term of art. We don't have a mutual defense treaty with Egypt like we do with our NATO allies. But as the president has said, Egypt is long-standing and close partner of the United States, and we have built on that foundation by supporting Egypt's transition to democracy and working with the new government," White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said in a statement.
Perhaps if he ....

Oh forget it... I'm with Novaman... "Disgusted" :mad5

Great... Now we're missing sensitive documents including, among other things, lists of Libyans who are/were helping us. I wonder what Al-Queda will do with that? Oh, and our safe houses are being attacked as well.

The battle between Morsi and the military has the United States in a predicament that critics say is rife with irony. Washington is urging a democratic transition and for Morsi's vision of political Islam to respect civil liberties. At the same time, the U.S. is giving the Egyptian military, which has been subverting the nation's democracy by disbanding the parliament and limiting Morsi's powers, more than $1.3 billion in annual aid.
So, give both sides a billion each annually ... Americans are rich, they can afford it
