It's easy to be generous with other people's money, but that's not charity.

It's my money. Actually, our money... Tax dollars. If you don't support any sort of public assistance, at least indicate how those people would be taken care of or indicate that you're willing to deal with the reality of them not being cared for... Just a little realism, no judgment..

When our country was founded tons of immigrants came over here with nothing. There was no welfare at that time, you either worked or starved, no one there to take care of you. Now we have people who abuse the system who are capable of working but choose not too, why would they, Barry will take care of you with my money.
I know a few hard working people who lost their jobs and had to apply for assistance to keep their family fed, they didn't get it why I don't know. Those types of people who really need a little temporary help till they can get back on their feet I have no problem with. Its the types that won't work and just breed are the ones I do have a problem with.
So you saying if we were to cut off the assistance to the leaches there would be a rise in crime? Im sure there would be but I have plenty of ammo and ready to deal the reality.
In nature only the strong survive, in America the strong are forced to support the lazy.

Where exactly did you read that? Because I didn't say it. I said nothing about a relationship between crime and public assistance. I'm not sure that "plenty of ammo" is the most appropriate response to any rise in crime though.
And I'm 110% for cutting off assistance to the leaches. You and I agree. Don't let the details confuse you.
You're right, when we had open immigration in the late 1800s, there was no public assistance and you either found work in one form or another or starved. There was also rampant corruption, poverty, disease, and many people didn't even survive the boat ride. Average lifespan was right around 40 years. If you're really OK with seeing truly disabled people starve to death or die from treatable medical conditions, you're a bigger man than I am...
Look, I'm not calling right or wrong on this.. I'm not judging, I'm just saying that if you're a proponent of zero public assistance in
every single case, please indicate how those people who really legitimately need it will survive.. Or indicate that they won't and that's OK due due to Darwinism or whatever justification you've got... I haven't head anyone that wants to continue giving leaches handouts.

This is where I got it from. Why should I have to take care of a grown man or woman who refuses to work? Its sad that slavery still exists, the people who rely on Barry to survive are a slave to the system.

Yes , they provided a minimal existence , I put up a topic called The County Farm . I stlll do not understand how anyone can pretend to tell me how to spend my tax dollars , I would not do that to another . It is wrong . If I have conviction I do more myself , I have done so for people , charity work that I believe in . Do not force me to give to your causes . It is wrong . I say again I would not do it to you , you forcing your will on me is wrong .

I said nothing about a rise in crime. And I'm not talking about those who can work, but dont.
No taxpayer should have to take care of a grown man or woman that refuses to work.
I'm asking what you would propose to do with those that are legitimately disabled and can't work.

Help them , but not the slackers . I have stated that I cant believe that most of us would not help a fellow American , but don't force anyone to do it , it's wrong and no moral or ethical way you can do it . I am an American citizen , do not force me , I'll make my own decisions and live with them .

I assume that means no tax dollar support. Fair enough.. I wonder how well that would work.

You know about six years ago my daughter was about eight years old . A lady about 22 to 24 came in the place I work , I run the counter and try to talk to everyone and develop good customer relations , I enjoy talking to folks . I simply asked as I do most ;
Well where do you work ?
She paused and thought , finaly she said ; I don't work , I have a child .
I thought a second and replied ; That's funny , I have a child also and that's why I HAVE to work .
.........................GO FIGURE .

Whenever I mention that my wife doesn't work, I usually get smacked and reminded that she works a lot harder than I do.. and doesn't get vacation days.. :-)

How well it will work is not your concern , tend to your business and not mine , you do not have to be my conscience , I already have one . My decisions are my own , how dare you make my moral decisions . I will be the one to stand before my maker and stand accountable not you .

Actually, I was legitimately wondering how well that would work in reality. I know that you think it will work, otherwise you wouldn't have suggested it. Why so defensive?
You know that we're having a discussion here, right? And everyone has an opinion.
We're talking about a solution to a nation wide problem. Why should a citizen not be concerned? When and if no one is concerned, we've got a bigger problem.

I am concerned about any real need but it is not my responsibility to make decisions for you and I would never do it . You will live with your decisions not me . Forcing people to DO RIGHT your way does not make it right . Please pm me .
