I don't know but I bet it has something to do with mindset and culture. In places like The South, the locals might not be shy about using their pickup trucks to teach punks some manners. And if they pick on granny in her Buick, some of her neighbors might be gentlemen and protect her. However, in yankee metro areas like NYC and DFW, the locals don't feel that social obligation.
Another factor is those bikers in NC probably knew who fathered them.
Allen Edwards, 43, of Queens, who allegedly smashed Alexian Lien’s rear driver’s side window with his fist, surrendered to cops Tuesday morning but will not be charged, the sources said.
“The DA declined to prosecute. Look at [The Post’s] front page [Tuesday]. He’s there on the motorcycle right next to [Lien] after he got beat up,” an angry law enforcement source said.
So, smash someone's mirror, brake check them, attack them, smash their window, and the DA doesn't want to prosecute.

Perhaps you missed all the coverage during 9/11/01 in NY and DC. I found it quite a show of ordinary folks helping ordinary folks in the most horrific of circumstances.

Never ever pick on Granny in her Buick Battleship. By the time she has slowed that battlewagon to see what those bumps were, she'll be in the next county, and her car is made of STEEL...

Perhaps he understands the difference between dealing with bad guys, and picking up the pieces of their victims afterward. Both acts are noble but they are different.

So I guess all the first responders and civilians, many of whom died to try and save potential victims, were just "picking up the pieces" and came from somewhere else.

The family of Mieses (the hospitalized criminal) announced today they hired celebrity Gloria Allred to harass the Asian family he and his gang attacked.
In related news, CBS reporter Tony Aiello revealed that Mieses didn't have a motorcycle license because it was suspended until 2017. You can probably guess why.

I wonder if they initiated the contact with Allred or if she contacted them or had someone do it on her behalf.
