Check them out over at CMP.
http://www.thecmp.org/sales/m1garand.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Or you might get lucky and find one yourself from a friend or friend of a friend or at a gun show or just about anywhere. Prices seem to range from as low as around $700 to at least $2k for the various models. This is a decent place to start to get an idea of a rifle's value so that when you do see one somewhere you will have an idea of what it's worth.
those prices for replicas or actual rifles from WW2
He's talking about actual M1s, but not necessarily from WW2. The Garand was manufactured into the 1950s. For instance, my H&R was built in 1954. That doesn't make it any less a "real" Garand.

Stay away from the so-called replicas. Some of them are downright dangerous to shoot.

Every Stock Glock has the same trigger pull. Every stock SIG (except the newer ones with striker or SA) has the same trigger pull.
The Sig carries a higher price, is heavier but allows a second strike if a round won't go bang. I guess it is a question of preference. Mine is SIG and if you want a brand new Gen4 G17 + some shabeng send me a PM. I bought that dam' thing to find out I don't really care for it after 50 rounds.

I do believe the glock 19 is a quality pistol but I didn't care for the trigger nor how it felt in my hand but plenty of people like them so you shouldn't have trouble selling yours if you choose to do that

SQLGeek wrote:Get a Sig P226 Single Action Only and then you have the same mechanism as your 1911 without the DA/SA trigger issue. You'll spend some serious coin for one but if that's what you're looking for, you can get it.
A CZ 75B will have all the features of a SIG P226 and you can get the SS version for lesser than the SIG.

I like Sig Sauers trigger better

SIG P226 for me but it is the heavier and more expensive gun. I sold my G17 because of the grip ergonomics.
If one likes the ergonomics of the SIG P226 but wants a lighter and less expensive gun I'd say look at the SIG P320.
If weight doesn't matter but the price is an issue look at the CZ 75B.

I experimented with Gen3 and Gen4 Glocks. They are great guns, no question about that but my hand size and the trigger ergonomics in comparison to other brands and models lead me to SIG, HK and CZ.

I have both, a P226 and a SS 75B. I am torn in between those two.

I missed out on a lot of this thread. With the Glock, it seems a lot of people come back to not liking the grip or the way it points. For pure reliability, I think the Glock has the edge in handling being dirty and unlubricated better, but that is just my view/experience. I think if you cleaned and loaded both pistols, then set them on a shelf or somewhere to collect dust/lint for a year, I would bet on the Glock to function 100% over the Sig. I think the actual difference is so small it may not be worth worrying about. Personal preference and experience with your particular hand gun are probably much bigger factors.

Agreed. Not too many had problems with Glocks, HK's, SIG's or CZ's and I am not aware of anybody storing a gun in mud or sand on a regular base either. I had most of my favorite shooters at the range and put 500+ rounds through it without a problem. The ammo used would be more of a concern for me.
Personal preference was my decision point to sell my Glock's and when time comes to slim down to one or two handguns it is H&K for me. As a matter of fact I consider H&K handguns as reliable as Gluck's. My P30 has a round count of well over 10,000 now and it is as smooth and reliable as it can get.
