Yes. It's the very first exemption in PC 46.02:
46.02. UNLAWFUL CARRYING WEAPONS. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun, illegal knife, or club if the person is not:
(1) on the person's own premises or premises under the person's control;

Yep. And of course you always want to have a blade handy when you carry, so you'll need a stainless folder with you in the shower to slice open the Tilia Foodsaver vacuum bag in case of emergency...

i'm just shocked I got it right, I guess I'm learning my guns after all.
Also Remington 870 marine magnum, its stainless steel, and perfect for a Humid environment.
Anyone see "The Punisher" with Thomas Jane, and he had Pistols and weapons stashed all over his house. Like in secret nooks and craneys

Only problem is we have a scrict no sharp objects in the shower policy at our house (long, scary story - must maintain forum rules)
FYI:
The 870's too heavy for most shower head holders - might work on the towel rack though.
Just thought of this one:
marine overboard emergency kit with flaregun - just saying...

I do carry while at home. If I'm not in holster-lending attire, I have at least one gun within close enough reach that only my arm has to move.
For the shower, I have one on the counter, only a step away. While poppo makes good points about hardening entrances, I think he's fooling himself if he thinks his home is invulnerable to quick and sudden entrance. He seems thoroughly convinced though, so I'm not going to spend time on the subject. I hope his argument is never tested.
I know personally the kind of long-lasting trauma and turmoil a family goes through when a loved one is violently taken away by criminals, and I vow never to let that happen to my family again if I have any say in the matter. This is the reason I carry, and the reason I am armed at all places it is possible, including my own home. I also hope my resolve is never tested, but I will not hesitate to preserve my life and those of my loved ones if the need were ever to arise.

Woman dead, two others injured in suspected home invasion
By From Community Reports
Updated: 12.21.09
Authorities are investigating the beating death of a woman in the course of a suspected home invasion in northeast Spring early Monday.
At approximately 2:12 a.m. Monday morning, Dec. 21, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a home invasion on Ginger Trace Drive in the Legends Ranch Subdivision in Spring. When deputies arrived they found that one victim had been killed and two others had been injured.
The victim, 34-year-old Lisa Lynette Whitt-Ulloa, from Georgia, was dead in her home. Her 26 year-old husband and 18-year-old daughter were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The 18-year-old victim, a Georgia resident, had been visiting her mother for the Christmas holidays. Ulloa’s 9-year-old son was not at home and had been spending the night with nearby relatives.
Detectives have begun the task of examining evidence and conducting an investigation into the crime. Major Crimes detectives, assisted by the Texas Rangers and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, have learned that two masked men entered the home through an unlocked door while the family was in the living area and, using what could be baseball bats, threatened, bound and assaulted the victims.
It is believed that robbery was the motive and at this time it has not been determined what, if anything, was removed from the home. The suspects’ method of escape or vehicle information has not yet been determined.
The 18-year-old victim was able to free herself after the suspects fled and ran to a neighbor’s home to call for help. When deputies arrived, both the 18-year-old and her step-father were waiting at the neighbor’s house. The homicide victim’s husband and daughter were injured, but are expected to be released from the hospital.
The victim and her husband had been married approximately 7 months and only recently moved into the home.
My prayers are with the family.
