From what I've seen it could take up to 4 weeks for the status to change to "processing". As I understand it when it arrives at DPS it is part of the backlog, when someone actually starts working on it the status will change. Mailed mine a little over a week ago, been checking the status every day even though I know it won't change for a while. Just playing the waiting game

At least this forum is helping to make the wait bearable

Yeah, it takes forever....I got mine in the mail about 10 days after it changed back to processing if that puts it in perspective LOL

Looks like you are 'blessed and highly favored' with that kind of return time. My poor husband is at 113 days and he just heard today that his license is printed and he'll received it in 1 - 2 weeks. Mine is at 30 days. I hope I have a turn around period as quickly as you did. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, arnoldstrong, looking at your timeline I sure hope mine goes that fast. I've been seeing some posts here and on some other forums about 60 day and less wait times, hope that's a trend that continues.

Pulling up a chair and joining the Waiting Room! Mailed my app off last Wednesday. Post office confirmation that it was received on Thursday. Putting hubby's in the mail tomorrow. Now the real waiting begins....

Glad to know I have lots of company. Everyone knows waiting is easier with a friend.
Now on to my sig line.....

I shall do just that. I usually lurk and comment infrequently on the Women and Guns forum. Looking forward to another group of ladies who share similar interests as mine! The rest of my girl friends just don't get the gun thing.

Nice try, USA1 - but won't your hairy legs give you away?? Either that, or we would just confuse you with Rosie O'Donnel and she gives me the creeps.

I wish my wife "got it". She volunteers for a dog rescue group, and she frequently drives to far-flung parts of the county (and surrounding counties) to do home visits and intake evaluations. I told her I'd like her to get a CHL so she can carry when she feels the need, or at least keep a pistol in her car, but she's been resistant.
When I applied for my CHL, she said, "You're not going to carry that thing all the time are you?" I said probably not, but a lot of the time, yes, and I'd most certainly at least have a pistol in the car. She was annoyed at my answer.

She's probably like I was; afraid of guns! This would be a good thing you can do for her while you're playing the "waiting game" for your CHL. My husband was so smart about this. He put targets up on the wall and announced to me there would only be snap caps in the gun(s) until he told me differently.
During that time I got curious and shot at the target a few times, got where I could load the magazine and put one in the slide, could unjam a misfeed, I learned how to handle and check a gun to see if it was loaded, etc., and didn't have any fear because I knew there were only snap caps in the house for right now although I was taught to check it to be sure each time I picked it up.
The next hurdle was going to the range which for me was making sure I had foam ear protection AND ear muffs! By the time we went I was completely comfortable with the gun and just used my same procedures at the range that I had learned at home. I found out I was pretty good at it too.
I began to really enjoy it and got confident that I could use it to defend myself. Maybe it would work for your honey too. Good luck in finding one more thing in common and resting easy that she's safe.
