That's not armor, they just use a whole lot of hair gel on their fur.

I live in a rural area. I have shot 12 armadillos so far this year, (a neighbor has 11) the drought has really brought them out. Everyone I know is having trouble with them. In my neighborhood successful kills have been made with:

22LR (piston and rifle)
40 SW
17 HMR
20 and 12 gauge shotgun with buckshot.

No question of "possession." The vultures take care of that rather quickly.

Are you having a problem with racoons? I have noticed they are coming out during the daytime seeking water. I normally have just put out traps to catch them at night and dispatched them in the mornings. Now, they seem to have no fear and were even seen drinking water from the portable AC unit in one of our out buildings--me, standing less than ten feet away. At least the skunks are still only lurking in the dark.

Not during the day. Have seen a couple at night. Got up one morning and had one on my back porch.
