I had not considered this to be analogous to OC at all. The one or two that said they can see some merit it having one say that the place to carry it would be on the belt next to their holster. This way if their shirt or jacket were to move such that someone might see their gun they would also see some kind of badge and not freak out. Personally, I think that is a risky endeavor and would not do it. However, that is at least the reasoning for some.

I agree...
I have no idea how anyone could get the impression from this discussion that anyone wanted a badge to "wear" on their chest... I always thought the notion of a badge was to keep next to your weapon, concealed in a similar manner, so that if the weapon was ever accidentally revealed, the badge would be there next to it to (hopefully) assuage fears from anyone that might notice the weapon...

I thought the whole tiara thing was pretty funny... but not really related to the badge idea.. :confused5

I've never seen one. I always assumed they were worn like a LEO to tell the world of their status and rights. Either way, the badge is seen, and the gun is not; and the badge alerts one of the gun.

Interesting how the same situation can be interpreted to have two completely different meanings ...

Some people try to derail conversations they don't like. Xtra points if they get the mods to lock the thread. Some forums avoid the problem by penalzing the users (suspend) who try the tactic, instead of rewarding them (and penalizing the users who follow the rules) by locking the thread.

Been out of town for 3 days so not current here. Did notice the comment about mods, did not pay attention to who posted it. I assure all we dont lock topics on a whim. Only because of flagrant rule violations.

Now to get unkpacked. :tiphat:

The CHL badge is generally considered to be in extremely poor taste and rightfully ridiculed without end. Use of one as anything other than a gag gift should be discouraged.

How will your friend respond if someone asks him if he is a cop? I am curious to know what some of our resident LEOs would do if they saw this. Would you guys just start laughing uncontrollably or would you say something to that person or would you arrest them?

In this day of morons impersonating LEOs and driving around stopping people to rob them or worse, I think carrying around a CHL badge, especially in this manner, is a profoundly bad idea.
This topic has been discussed before ad-nauseum. The reason people are joking about tiaras and sashes is that they don’t want to offend anyone by saying a “concealed carry badge” is a ridiculous idea.

If you get pulled over and the officer wants to disarm you he will probably be very amused when he sees the badge. As a matter of fact, you will be the object of a lot of humorous comments around the station. If I was still in law enforcement, I would take a picture of it for the bulletin board at the station. "rlol"

If you have to shoot someone, simply holster the gun as soon as the police arrive. Problem solved. On a day to day basis, do your best to keep your firearm concealed. Another problem solved.

When a CHL holder does something illegal or just plain goofy, it casts a shadow on all CHL holders.

One thing I overlooked. This came from http://www.gunthorp.com/hosters%20badges.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Wouldn't this look great next to your Hi-Point? It'll be exhibit "A" at your court appearance.

I always stay away from threads titled "CC Badges" because they say the same thing over and over. I finally gave in to read some of this one because it has gone on for 7 pages. It's just the same repeated more often. Even the jokes are the same. I categorize CC badges with leisure suits. At one time someone thought they were a good idea. In reality they are ridiculous.

MY 3 piece polyester outfits were never ridiculous...it was cool, right along with my four inch platform shoes. I mean...I was hot. Of course, that was around 1974.

CC badges, on the other hand, never were cool.

being of the cowboy persuasion in my younger years, I only had one leisure suit in the mid-70's... a western cut leisure suit. Now that I think about it, one of them concealed carry badges would have been the perfect accent to that outfit
