Were your shops near the Cash area? I have/had a lot of relatives from around there and my Mom's parents lived down the road (34) toward Quinlan after they moved back there.

originally in east Dallas then Garland, I will never forget the surprise opening that box, we thought it may have been a hi grade stock with a flaw but could not find one on it, nothing special on the label of the box either, also all the field 1100's came with a butt plate, this one had a very nice rubber pad.

I don't know if they sell seconds as in defective or items that haven't passed QC. I do know that they sometimes sell the same products sold elsewhere made to lower specifications to make them price competitive. Sort of like an everyday blackfriday special type item.

I don't know this to be true with firearms or ammunition but I have found it to be true with baby car seats and diapers.

Once upon a time when shopping at dedicated baby boutique my wife inquired why Wal-Mart prices were so much cheaper for the same items. They told us that they were not the same items, and Wal-Mart some items were of lesser quality.

We did our own investigation noting MFG item numbers online and then comparing to what we saw in different stores. Wal-Mart items had slightly different part numbers for the same items and upon inspection they were made to a lesser quality. The difference was readily apparent in the car seats construction, materials and overall quality.

The same of diapers, WalMart diapers of the same brand and type always leaked while the same thing bought at Baby's R Us were great. The reason, they were not the same, despite the same brand and type but the tell tale sign was the mfg number on the package. They were slightly different for WalMart than they were everywhere else.

When in doubt do your research.

You may consider that I am nitpicking but, I used to work in the quality assurance field.
If products are made to a lower specification and they meet that specification that doesn't mean they are seconds or defective.
That just means that the specifications are different.
It is up to the consumer to determine if the product they decide to purchase meets their quality requirements.
As you stated "Do your research". :tiphat:

I don't think Wal Mart sells seconds. However, I do think they sell products of lessor quality of other products with the same branding. Some products are most likely the same as any other by the brand. I just wish they would be up front about the product they sell. My biggest problem is finding parts as they have a unique # and are hard to find, even when you go to the manufacturers web site. Sometimes I just have to guess. Pictures of the parts are helpful though.

Lots of drift from the OP which referenced firearms. I went to a Walmart to see if they still sold the Marlin Model 60 stainless .22 rifle I mentioned in an earlier post and that it had a different model number than Marlin's catalog. Marlin = Model 60SB iron sights, hooded high vis front sight. WalMart = Model 60SB/WS iron sights, hooded high vis front sight PLUS silver 4x scope and mounts. Exclusive to WalMart. I checked with some of my Marlin Owner Forum buddies who thought the addition of the scope was the difference. I thought the Marlin 336W lever gun was a WalMart special but it's listed in their catalog. Many refer to it as the WalMart Special. One member of the Marlin forum quoted an ex-Marlin employee "there were no seconds sold by Marlin. Several of them mentioned that Ruger made 10/22's specifically for WalMart, but had no details.

Well, I don't buy anything from walmart anyways, I went in there to get a rifle, and found out they don't honor CHL's, So I left and went to retailer that did.

My name is very common, and I went to dicks to get a rifle and waited two weeks, because I gt delayed, So i went and got a CHL to skip all that nonsense, So i'm not going to waste my time and money in a place that doesn't honor it, and truth be told you can find the same deals or better just about anywhere if you look.

But as far as seconds? doubt it, probably just someone else trying to drive business elsewhere or to themselves.

I'm assuming that by "they don't honor CHL's" that you mean they wanted to call it into NICS. That is not their policy, you just found an employee that didn't know better.

Yeah I thought that this might actually be a plant from some of Bloomberg's minions since Wal-Mart didn't cave in to them and post their stores with 30.06 and 30.07 signs. They got them to stop selling AR-15s but they want even more.

I don't think Bloomberg got Walmart to quit selling ARs... There were just too many available and you could get them cheaper than Walmart was selling them for. When you can buy them from Bud's cheaper than Walmart sells them... no reason for Walmart to stay in that market.

Which WalMart didn't honor your CHL? I have purchased four three guns at three different Wal Marts; Hunstville, Burleson, La Porte, TX. They all accepted my CHL with my ID to by-pass NICS.
Edited: I just remembered I bought a shotgun at the Wal Mart in last September. and they bypassed NICS, too.

I have bought several myself and never had an issue. I wonder if he thinks his CHL is supposed to exempt him from filling out the 4473.

If that is what he thought, then he should still be looking for a retailer to buy guns from!
