I am fast approaching 40 days from when DPS received my application. I see a lot of people getting their plastic in just over 30 days. I just keep asking myself if I filled out everything or if maybe I got denied. :???: :confused5 HELP!! :waiting: I need words of wisdom to calm my nerves. LOL

Thx for listening.

I just emailed them. If I don't get a response in a timely manner I will call them.

I just got a response by email:

"Your application was received on 09/13/2007. At this time we are awaiting the completion of the background investigation. Thank you for your continued patience"

It took 7 minutes to get this response. Now the question is whether or not to believe this. :skep:

I feel your pain, really I do. I have been warming the bench for quite a spell myself. I have made the call to Austin inquiring as to the progress of my own application and have received the same reply. I have lived in the same house and worked the same job for ten plus years. I have never been arrested. I owe no child support or back taxes. I also received the same reply "waiting on the completion of the backround investigation". When I asked what part of the backround investigation they were waiting on all I got in response was "the backround investigation".

As I see it, there is really not a whole heck of a lot you or I can do about it short of sit, grin, and wait. They have 60 days from receipt of your completed application to process in. I don't know if that is 60 days from date of receipt in their office or 60 days from when they open the envelope and verify the application is complete.
July 1 mailed the packet.
July 5 delivery confirmation received
July 9 DPS deposits the check
July 27 got notice that I failed to sign one of the fingerprint cards arggh
July 27 signed fingerprint card and mailed back to Austin
July 28 Delivery confirmation that fingerprint card was received at CHL office
August 8 sent email requesting pin
August 9 received pin via email
August 21 Website still shows application missing information called CHL office to be told that application is being processed and website is behind and has problems
August 23 No change in status
August 29 Processing Application
September 6 Received 2 letters with PIN different dates on each letter

The DPS date on the email is not matching your dates by about a month?

What I am saying is that it took the DPS office a month to begin processing my application after they received the signed fingerprint card back in the mail. Where was the fingerprint card during that month? I have had replies ranging from a slow mail room to sitting under a pile on someone's desk.

Your right, I called and she very shortly said that it was a typo that my application was recieved on 08/13/07. She didn't sound to pleased to take my phone call. I have to admit, I was in the Navy and have moved a few times.

So, I guess I will continue to go to the range and practice at home.

If anyone lives in Houston, do you know if concealed carry is allowed at Memorial Park? I run there late at night sometimes and have seen some shady characters that have made me nervous. I mean when its 2200 and most of the people you see are running and you have a dark character walking in jeans and a longsleeve shirt, you can't help but be suspicious.

You can carry in any park in Texas. Houston had their parks posted (contrary to the law) and was forced to remove the signs a while back.

You need to carry in Memorial Park at night.

I thought so, I haven't seen any postings. Just wanted to be sure. Next question, what kind of holster will work for long distance running? Im talking 10+ miles.
